Good player, but wrong sort of winger for us. We needed, and still need, more of a speed merchant.

I see what you did there...

According to the contracts list we have a full list of rookies. Maybe we might pick up Yze at 61.

Pick 51 will be used on Derksen.

Hore may still go of the rookie list for Yze

With Windsor and Langdon clearly ahead of him, he clearly didn't fancy another season at Casey.

Nar more like the basket case scheduling of the Smithy's league.

For the same reason Dogs' supporters were happy to see him go. Best to ask one of them, if you know any. As mentioned, our mods will be keeping a close eye on this thread. For good reason.

Spot on …these retirements & de listings are all in line with current events

i take it you don't think we'll pick riak andrew @WERRIDEE - because he won't make it on our list or because he's not eligible to join us?

We definitely won't pick up Andrew in the draft or rookie draft. He couldn't get a game for Casey this year when he was on the list. If he stays on the list who knows he might get a game as the 23rd man.

I put Melbourne players ahead of Casey players except the 23rd man has to be a Casey player but your guess on who it will be. We have 2 or 3 positions available with Pickett suspended that could go to Steele, Edwards or K.Windsor hopefully they could get some decent recruits because if they are the best 2 to 3 Casey players we are in for a long year.

Casey

B: Howes, Adams, Draft pick

HB: Moniz-Wakefield, Derksen, Woewodin

C: Billings, Laurie, Brown

HF: Spargo, Kentfield, Sestan

F: Fullerton, Jefferson, Draft pick

FOLL: Campbell, Draft pick, Draft pick

IC: Verrall, Rookie B, Steele, Edwards, 23rd man K.Windsor if we don't have a rookie B player.

Happy when we got him for peanuts. Was handy in his first year though he took a lot away from rangers as they focussed on moving the ball along his wing, more often than not.

Another spot to fill with a future champion :)

In case you haven’t realised Caleb The Duke Windsor has already replaced Lachie.

Although I would like Caleb to be played in the centre this year. He will straighten us up and be in the thick of centre bounces.

Caleb has the potential to be another Chad Warner and I believe if in the middle he will add his running and scoring potential more through the middle. This would be another new dimension to our defence and attack connectivity.

We can still recruit or choose another winger in the draft.

He sounds like an articulate fella whenever interviewed so I’m sure he’ll be alright.

Given Bayley Fritsch, Judd McVee and Oscar McInerney all graduated via the Casey team  to AFL success. Future opportunities could present for others taking the Casey pathway. George Grey and Corey Ellison both former Casey alumni have been mentioned as potential AFL recruits.

Roan Steele combines football flair with grit and determination, plus he has a whole ground game. Tyler Edwards has been consistent performer with good anticipation and clean football skills. Kai Windsor’s efforts exceeded expectations after the previous season’s surgeries.

All the best Lachie enjoy the golf and a glass of red.

Sorry Tarax, you can't claim Judd McVee as a Casey graduate like you have, he was a rookie draftee.

Perhaps Papley would fit your argument better.

Not really.. he played only 1 game for Casey and that was as a top up player when he was with the Gippsland Power back in 2015.

Agree with the rest though, Judd McVee is a Melbourne listed player and was drafted from East Fremantle, not. Casey..

True LFS he was rookie listed already, but was given the opportunity to display his talent at Casey throughput the ‘22 season.Thought he was the best performed of the uncapped listed players in the VFL GF that year. In conditions that may not suit a sandgroper. Princess Park surface was very heavy underfoot after some rain. The rest is history, a JT special.

Papely’s tenure at Casey must have been rather brief. l don’t recall seeing him on field. If another emerging player of his ilk surfaced from Casey and MFC manage to recruit him. Terrific!

He was handy at times Lachie Hunter.

Was a bit of a pointless trade in someway. We should of been looking for younger players.

Sadly, Lachie's body wasn't up to it. I think he will go into coaching though. I wish him all the best and thank him for his contribution to the Melbourne Football Club.

With his off field  history I would have thought he was better suited to being a player manager!!

I've never seen or heard so many supporters of a club so happy about one players retirement. Yeah he was slow but he wasn't the worst footballer paid to play at our Club.

He was good in 23 we have had a lot more worse recruits.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
