I think a good club and a good leader does just that.

She saw us through some hard times and through some of the very best times, including 2 premierships, and financially we've never been in a better position.

I think it was the right thing to do, but she has earnt my respect for what she did when she became president, and the gracious way in which she bowed out. 

 

I think from all the people on our board, he would be the most credentialed to lead a footy department review, having played the game, and also been involved at other clubs not just our own.

At least we can be sure that he has the very best interests of our club at heart, and this is not some ego driven thing to retain his position.

Great post.  Brad should stay on Board either way, but at least be Director responsible for reporting and representing Board on footy matters.

This is actually a great piece of media timing by the club, credit to them. 4.30pm on a Friday in the middle of the first week of finals. There's no better time to sweep the news under the carpet. Media and fans are focussed on the Port debacle and the game tonight.

So very true. I picked up a Herald Sun at my local cafe this morning and was staggered to find nothing in there from the usual snipers having a dig at our club.

At least they will have Port Adelaide, Ken Hinkley and Charlie Dixon as their whipping boys over the next week.

Reminds me I have a few quick emails to send before i log off for the day and head to the footy. 

Good on you Kate. I hope your legacy will be the flag and the new headquarters and training ground at Caulfield which will be announced soon!

Omfg. Are you serious???? She had no interest in digging in???? I’m staggered by your insensitivity. Ffs she’s just stepped down… isn’t this what everyone wanted?! Show a modicum of respect, if you’re able to.

Kate is our W team’s biggest supporter by a mile. She’s gone above and beyond for the girls. I don’t know how these things work but I dearly hope she can remain involved in some capacity. It will be heartbreaking if not.

Unfortunately she cannot continue at board level as she's now served more terms than allowed, and was only extended as she was president. 

However it doesn't stop her from staying involved in the AFLW if she wishes, in a role that is outside of the board.

It seems being president of a multi million dollar sporting organization that's been embroiled in constant legal drama for your entire tenure is a much much more difficult situation than it might seem on a fan forum. 

As i said earlier, i agree it was the right time for a change, but to suggest she's bailed out when it's gotten tough is a joke, it's been a nightmare for her entire tenure and she's kept us going through that. 

I think the highlighted section of your post sums your position up pretty well.

I heard the same. Brad's role likely to be an interim position with Smudge taking over in the near future. 

There have been too many mis-steps by this administration in recent times. Kate's train wreck interview was symptomatic of how some at the club operate with a siege mentality. Fairly obvious who the next domino will be.

We are lacking real leadership at the club so look fwd to seeing what Brad and hopefully Stephen Smith can do.
