Misleading headline by the OP.

The report stated Pickett expressed some homesickness, but that his management and the club would be able to work through the situation and that Pickett would see out his 3 years remaining.

That is what I heard on the news report as well.

Well that settles it then.

Melbourne has been assured by Kysaiah Pickett’s management that he is content at the Demons despite continual approaches from clubs across the country.

Pickett signed a new deal last April until 2027 and while he has spent time in Adelaide and West Australia growing up he does not consider either of them his home town.

Clubs including Port Adelaide have recently again upped the ante as they attempt to bring him back to the state where he lived with his uncle, Power legend Byron Pickett, for a time as he approached draft age.

But his manager Peter Rohde confirmed on Tuesday he had spoken with Melbourne football boss Alan Richardson as recently as Tuesday morning to assure him there was nothing to the speculation.

Pickett loves the city of Darwin and its tropical weather as an escape from the bitter cold of Melbourne’s winters.

But unless the AFL fast-tracks a 20th team into the Northern Territory before he retires, he will remain with Melbourne for the foreseeable future.

All Melbourne players have been disappointed with their response to a pair of straight-sets finals departures, flat they could not put together a deep finals run.

But as the Demons prepare to take on Collingwood in their round 24 clash on Friday night, his focus is on fulfilling his contract.

Ironically Pickett has just been spruiking the city in a fashion shoot for the City of Melbourne for splashed across his Instagram pages.

He and partner Ardu welcomed their first child in April this year, with Pickett enjoying a solid but not brilliant season with 34 goals after 40, 41 and 37 majors in his past three seasons for the Demons.

Thank goodness, bloody channel 7! That’s irresponsible reporting for us ultra sensitive demons supporters

Certainly did not mean to mislead, it’s what I heard a few minutes ago on ch 7

I'm not sure if the TV report was different as I haven't seen it, but the article states:

Pickett has indicated to the Demons he would like to explore the possibility of a trade this off-season, but it’s understood the club and his management are confident they can work through his concerns.

My batteries are already drained, I shall not entertain this

also our lovely training reporter mentioned she chatted to kozzis partner and they are happy here in Melbourne !

The article also says, for what it’s worth:

“It’s believed Pickett’s desire is family focussed after he and his partner welcomed their first child earlier this year, and is in no way linked to ongoing cultural questions surrounding the Demons.”

It’s still seriously concerning.

  • Demonland changed the title to Kozzy Homesick and Wants to Leave

I think im gonna cry :(

Supporters are now geared to panic over anything.

These conversations would take place regularly between clubs and players.  How are you feeling, etc.

Try and treat each situation in isolation and not as some nefarious collective.

Pickett also has a contract and won't be going anywhere.  I don't see him finishing his career at Melbourne and never have, but he'll be in red and blue next year imo.  And right now that's all I care about.

If the report was merely that he’s homesick, I’d agree.

But the report is that he wants to explore a trade. Which to me, is a step further down the track.

And in circumstances where we’ve very clearly granted ANB’s request to go home for family reasons, we’re going to be in dangerous territory if we refuse his request without good reason (there may be good reason, but it’s concerning nevertheless).

Robbo on 360 of the view he'll formally request a trade.

This is dramatically opposed to what I’ve been told.
And also goes against what his manager said only a week or so ago.

I would take this with a large grain of salt

My central maxim during football season amongst fellow followers of the code every time we lose is “[censored] football; it’s a [censored] sport and I hate it”

Never been truer post-season

Not sure of rules - Can you request a priority pick to stop supporters being sad? Because I am sad

First Tomlinson

Now this?!

Maybe the club should’ve just posted transcripts of the exit interviews to reddit - how is all of this stuff leaking!!!!

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
