He showed some excellent form in the red and blue, especially before he did his knee in 2021. Could easily have been Tommo winning a premiership alongside Lever and May. Deserves more game time, thanks for everything Tommo!

and confidence maybe?

I think he was definitely on the outside looking in. Seemed Goodwin didn’t rate him.  He was too good for VFL and showed ability as key defender role.  Unfortunately he would be dropped quickly where we had a loss despite his form.  He should look elsewhere.  Suggest Kangas would be his best option.
Good luck and thanks Tommo

Good luck, Tomo.

Was devastated when he did his knee in 2021. Was killing it that season and deserved to be on the field for that GF.

Surely this means T Mac will be offered another year if Tomo leaves.

Tomlinson was very handy as a back up defender and served the club well.

T Mac gets another year no matter who we bring in. I reckon this year has been his best season ever.

I thought he was poorly treated by MFC. He may not have been a world beater, but the form he showed in ‘21 he at least deserved respect. He certainly didn’t have that from the President. At a NSWDemons event some 2 years ago, where Roffey was a guest speaker, she stated that “you don’t win finals with players like Tomlinson, he won’t be picked”. Not Roffey’s finest moment, and makes you wonder what else she may have said on other occasions to the demon faithful.

That’s horrible form from the President but I dare say he had the respect from the playing group and coaches.  Unfortunately just not in our best 22 and definitely has lost his edge since doing his knee

Best of Luck Tommo

such a shame your knee went in ‘21 you were playing superb football before that. Lost that little bit of agility, when you returned

Always welcome back

If that is true she should get on her bike and leave, now, without a gold watch.

Absolutely appalling to speak like that about any player to any gathering, even if you do think that.  Keep your nose out of football matters, and just get your one job done, finding us a home.

That is truly one of the most upsetting posts I have read. 😡😡😡😡

Just a really nice guy, always had time for a chat when we were at our local coffee shop at the same time. Wish him nothing but the best, and he deserved better from us.

Can only wish this guy well. He was always on a short leash with the FD and was surprisingly dropped a few times after solid games.

Probably deserved more from us than he got.

Good luck to him, I hope he finds a situation that works for him.

Saints can have him for pick 7, 8 and Max King, otherwise send him to the Pies.

Unfortunately we have zero say in a free agent.

Definitely best of luck to him (with all the usual caveats).

Felt he was bitterly unlucky with the way the tall defender roster played out. You'd think with Petty rolled forward his chances would have come, but even then, no.

He may yet get a few more seasons out of his body given that his game has never been about pace or agility.

Anyway, the space opens nicely for Sam De Koning to join his brother with us at the end of 2025. You know, alongside the Whitlock twins who will be their longer-term understudies.

Hopeful we would get a third round compensation pick. Am I dreaming?

He was an absolute pillar in our three-pronged premiership-year defensive set-up for the first six or seven rounds while  building belief among our team until doing his knee against North and ultimately being usurped by Petty. Otherwise, I'm fairly certain he would now have a grand final medallion, and it's not forgotten. Tomald's Jesus-like resurrection this year has further cruelled his career.

I wish him well. I'm sure he'll be able to succeed at a different club but he feels surplus to requirements at the Dees at the moment.

Free agent = free.

The 22 June 2023 event, perhaps, Neil?

Free agency has compensation for the club that loses a player.

I'm doubting he would reach the bench mark for the third round compensation mark.

Thanks, it just seemed 2 years ago. We lost to Geelong that night if I remember correctly

Good luck to thommo.

Remember when we recruited him he was going to play wing 🤦‍♂️

Things change, that's called being flexible, both practically and psychologically.

Goodwin … early sign of his madness?

The Age. October 2019.

Adam Tomlinson is looking forward to some consistency in his playing role after being earmarked for a spot on the wing at Melbourne.

The Demons recruit was unveiled at AAMI Park on Tuesday after joining the club as a free agent on a five-year deal on Monday. Melbourne have identified Tomlinson primarily as a wingman.
Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin spoke about him playing a consistent role, and once games start, being cemented in that spot.

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
