Yes it’s been another Tim Lamb deal. McAdam. 3 year contract.  Cannot kick 35 metres. Cannot chase. Cannot tackle. No second efforts.  Can kick a mercurial snap goal.  Can take a 1 in 10 screamer attempt.

Only time will tell SthSea22, Chin was carrying a knee early in ‘24, he got better as the year went on. He does need to kick a few more goals though, he is a great set shot kick for his size. I am hoping that Andy Moniz-Wakefield will be a regular in our backline possibly running through centre square as a Bedford replacement.

Giving up on Bedford hurts the most out of that list

Geez imagine if we had him now............

This is just plain inaccurate.

We didn’t want to give up Bedford and were very disappointed that he chose to leave. We had contract for him but he got a bigger one at GWS.

I felt the same way but Chandler has been good this season. Not quite at Spargo level but had some big monents.

I’d argue Chandler should be ahead of Spargo at start of 2025.  He is above average for kicks and tackles. Average for goals.  Spargo is high in goal assists but low in everything else, especially goals as below average.  Spargo also has the comeback after a year away

An adelaide supporter made of mine was prety upset McAdam left the crows.  Talking to him he said give him a full pre-season - he's clearly been down on fitness, form and confidence this season.

At his best he is a difficult matchup like Fritsch, Melksham and maybe Turner in terms of his mobility and ability to win it in the air and on the ground.

He deserves another season - but if it's similar this year it is going to look like a very ordinary decision to trade him in.

I just hope chandler over summer learns how to do a sharp turn instead of a wide arc and becomes more instinctive about giving the ball off.   Even just a flick on rather than always taking possession.   He could be so much better.

Both will be required to step up next year sans nibbler

Was he getting behind his opponent to prepare for a 1 in 100 opportunity for a specie instead of getting in front for a 1 in 5 chance of a crumb?

Doesn’t sound like a team first move

The only thing I could think was that he was trying to keep the defender deep to create space but he was going about it a very strange way and a way that resulted in his opponent front access to the ball for two quarters.

Your opinion, not mine.

Question remains though - will he remain injury free for a pre season then a full season?

Bedford.

If they had been able to identify his true talent and develop it by giving him more opportunity, hence showing faith in him with the resultant boost in confidence, We would have offered him a better contact and perhaps he might of stayed.

In short, I don’t think they knew what they had.

He is a lightly framed player. If you are lightly framed you need to be very talented to make it at senior level. Very talented! No where near it. May well be our worst recruit in a decade.

On season 1 of 3 one couldn’t argue against that.
Glass ⅔ full or ⅓ empty???

Bedford has had an okay year, he has not set the world on fire and is only a good role player at the Giants. Chandler has a had a very similar season.

#ChandlerMyths

Chandler has kicked 18 goals vs Bedford's 10

Averages more disposals, more kicks and at a much better efficiency

Both elite for tackles, Bedford gets more per game but Chandler higher tackles inside 50

________

McAdam, looks a bust. Will give him the benefit of the doubt due to his injury interrupted preseason. Did not show much when he was fit at Casey.

After getting dropped his form was very solid in a bad VFL side. Consistent goals and tackles.

The talent is very much still there.

If he gets and stays fit he has the tools to contribute. We’ll know by November if he’s down the back in the running or in the rehab group

Bedford GWS   this season

What I have seen, not only has he been an influential player for them but someone who would have easily kept his spot in the 22 each week with us.

I agree with you on Chandler.
Think he lacks a bit of pace and spark, does try hard though.

Not just, he added that facet to his game which makes him even more valuable.

Bedford’s best assets are his overall speed and his ability to breakaway from a contest.

It's certainly looking like it BUT he definitely has talent.

I've watched him at Casey & he looks like he's playing school yard footy trying to take speccies instead of playing the percentages.

In his defence Casey was pretty dysfunctional this year with poor delivery to their forwards.

We live in hope.

Chandler’s got some weaknesses but pace isn’t one of them. He’s the fastest player at the club, as confirmed by Windsor who said in an interview that Chandler “smokes him”.

You've got to give players games if you want them to accept new contracts.

Unless they know they won't get games elsewhere either. In that case they'll sign.

Pick 25 looks to have been overs for McAdam but it's what we had to offer/the Croms wanted and I suspect we'd committed to him months earlier.

Another preseason to see what he can do. I'll reserve final judgment for another 9 months or so

His failure to kick from 40 metres out was staggering in his brief appearances with us.

I recall he nailed a shot on the boundary at Kardinia Park in 2022 or 2023 where the 50 meets the boundary line. One of the toughest kicks in footy.

I'm not giving up hope, but if he's in and out of rehab again all summer, then it will be 2024 all over again.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
