Everyone who was crying out to hear from her, you got your wish.

It's like she had been away on holiday for a couple of months and just rolled in from the airport with not a care in the world.

After she made that comment, along with the one that "Joey from Moe" wouldn't be an MCC member, both crass, elitist , plain dumb and absolutely incorrect., I wrote to Ms Roffey.

I was concise and polite, as a 50 year resident and worker in and around Moe, making it clear how I regarded her "throw away" (?) lines. I also pointed out how Bernie Vince played for the mighty Moe Lions after leaving the Demons, and former (2 games) player Declan Keilty is the current captain coach. Current Suns stars Bailey Humphrey and Sam Flanders are both from Moe.

I was disappointed but hardly surprised she did not reply.

In my experience this describes her perfectly and I’ve heard similar disdain directly from her mouth about Casey and its residents. I find it unfathomable that she can be so careless with her words.

I said it last week but that SEN interview before the gold coast game Pert gave was awful. Nothing he said sounded sincere or substantive. Just a bunch of excuses, spin and complaints about all the things we've had to deal with that can't be controlled by a CEO.

Mate, if you can't take control maybe let someone do the job who can.

Off the topic a little - is KozzyCan a reference to Ozzie can… Daryl can.. Ozzie can??

Forgive my tardiness in the US.

Just quietly, how the hell has Roffey not spoken to the Petracca family? That is just straight up incompetence!

Say what you want about him, Eddie McGuire would have been sleeping day and night at the hospital and doing everything in his power to help the equivalent say if Buckley was in Tracc’s situation.

Hmmmm, rough interview that I don’t think she was properly prepared for (and Whately did machine gun the questions a bit). Some of the soundbites I would have wanted to hear from the club president:

  • The leadership group is aligned on our goal of XXX (eg what are they all working towards together - the “North Star” eg “giving our loyal members a MCC grand final within 5years time” etc.
  • “If Trac goes, I will” (really odd she has not met with him or the family, one of our more important assets)
  • “We are really proud of the team and our emerging talent, we do acknowledge we have some list gaps that we are actively trying to fill in the off season and we are looking forward to the 2025 season”
  • “There is a bit of external noise to the club at the moment - it is unfortunate - but we have to defend the red & blue”
  • “Finally to our fans, we are the oldest football club in the world & I personally feel we have let them down over the last 18m - you deserve better - and you will get it” (eg some humility)

Etc etc. Unfortunately she came across distant to the workings of the club and the key concerns of the members - not what I wanted to hear.

I think people need to calm the farm a bit.

Roffey spoke poorly & should resign, but getting rid of her does not solve club culture, we won't start playing electric football again, she isn't responsible for our terrible recruiting, nor off field antics of players, Petracca won't stay if she leaves either, we have bigger issues throughout. It doesn't just end with her gone, we need a whole club clean out/direction and buy in.

It was only last week the fan club on here was saying all ok, nothing wrong! Anybody who had an alternative view was castigated

I blame Maynard.

I’ve spotted her shopping at Yarraville Coles - if she’s elitist, she’s not doing a great job of it.

  • CASEY: Sydney

The Casey Demons were always expected to emerge victorious in their matchup against the lowly-ranked Sydney Swans at picturesque Tramway Oval, situated in the shadows of the SCG in Moore Park. They dominated the proceedings in the opening two and a half quarters of the game but had little to show for it. This was primarily due to their own sloppy errors in a low-standard game that produced a number of crowded mauls reminiscent of the rugby game popular in old Sydney Town. However, when the Swans tired, as teams often do when they turn games into ugly defensive contests, Casey lifted the standard of its own play and … it was off to the races. Not to nearby Randwick but to a different race with an objective of piling on goal after goal on the way to a mammoth victory. At the 25-minute mark of the third quarter, the Demons held a slender 14-point lead over the Swans, who are ahead on the ladder of only the previous week's opposition, the ailing Bullants. Forty minutes later, they had more than fully compensated for the sloppiness of their earlier play with a decisive 94-point victory, that culminated in a rousing finish which yielded thirteen unanswered goals. Kicks hit their targets, the ball found itself going through the middle and every player made a contribution.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds.
This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?
