I cannot believe we used the language that Moore 'dropped to his knees' rather than 'slid into the contest'. The latter would have provided a clear argument that sliding is not a reasonable action and therefore not something Kossie would have reasonably expected. There is no point appealing this now as we cannot make this argument on appeal.

Does anyone know whether Anderson was the lawyer we used for JVR's appeal?

Finally in the off season we should train to slide into ground ball contests and use our knees in aerial contests against the filth.

It’s just infuriating.

Blind Freddy can see the outcomes in advance, we are paying good money to have our representatives set up our players to fail. Why oh why is Zita advising that Angry Anderson references ‘bumps’ rather than making a strong point about a ‘contest for a ball’, and unless somebody tells me otherwise I have to feel that there wasn’t even any discussion about how the sliding action undertaken by Moore impacted Kozzie’s legs in an illegal manner and actively caused the contact. At the start when the discussion was about how Koz got low at the contest it looked like for once we were going to focus on something that had a chance, but it went nowhere. Again.

I would also bet that no discussion was made about at which point the AFL assumed that be needed to apply his additional duty of care when Moore illegally slid into him, and exactly how long he had to respond, and how there was not even time for him to react because he was TRYING TO WIN A CONTEST AND NOT TO BUMP

once again, Melbourne loses out, we will have all the imbeciles on Twitter calling him a sniper and dirty and a dog and all the names their pea brains can think of, when he honesty did nothing that would not be expected of every single player in the league by contesting that loose ball.

almost guaranteed some keyboard warrior is going to fire off a racial slur on twitter at him again any minute now, and we will have to cross that bridge again.

Aaaaaaargh.

seriously over it. I’m both angry and disappointed

Same, only reason I go to games anymore is the fact I meet up with my parents and sister and take my kids so it's a family thing. I've stopped caring as much as I used to and only frequent this forum and some demon podcasts.the while AFL machine makes me angry across so many levels

I have said it before, but imo this Chairman makes it up. This is what he said tonight.

AFL Tribunal chair Jeff Gleeson KC said that the tribunal did not believe he was contesting the ball and it was “unreasonable” for him to bump given Moore could have lowered his body and been in danger.

What he in fact is saying is that you can never bump, or if you take it to its logical conclusion, or for that matter do anything on a football field, as the other player might lower his body, or do something, that leads to him being hurt/concussed and you are therefore guilty of an offence, as it is unreasonable of you not to know that the other player might do something that turns your legal act into a suspension.

 That is BS.

That is not the bloody rule and it never has been. Where does it say in the rules, that if the victim does something at the last second, that causes a legal act to result in an injury, that it is then an illegal act.

I am sick to death of this blokes' rulings.

Contrast it with what he said when a Pies player is up on knocking out a player.

But the AFL tribunal panel of Jeff Gleeson, Scott Stevens and Darren Gaspar found Maynard's actions were "reasonable" in the circumstances. "He committed to the act of smothering when he was ... several metres from Brayshaw," Gleeson said in his findings. "We are not at all satisfied that a reasonable player would have foreseen that violent impact, or impact of the type suffered by Brayshaw, was inevitable or even likely."

The MRO Officer a former Pies player didn't even want to charge Maynard in the first place.

The AFL revealed later on Wednesday that it won't appeal the decision, despite initially overruling match review officer Michael Christian. AFL bosses sent Maynard directly to the tribunal, despite Christian not wanting to charge him in the first place.

Collingwood MRO officer and Collingwood supporter presiding over cases involving Pies players, is an absolute disgrace.

APPEAL.

Would love to know the number of times Gleeson was able to use his power to get Collingwood players out of suspensions or shorten the length of suspensions. Its no coincidence that this incident was against his precious Pies.

Obviously the Maynard one is the perfect example. I remember him getting Cox out of a one week ban for taking out Grimes 30m off the ball back in 2019.

But there must be more...

This is the least of our worries. But kozzie again has let us down.

Absolute nonsense

You try putting physical pressure on for 120 minutes each week and not get into the occasional scrap

The bump was completely fine. until Moore was on his knees

Kozzi gives 100% each week and to call him out for his aggression is poor form. We need it

Exactly.

If it took three hours to deliberate, it was obviously borderline.

If Anderson had just put forward a half decent argument, he'd probably be free to play.

Why use the word "bump". He was contesting the ball and only had eyes for it.

Moore didn't drop to his knees, he illegally slid in.

Koz is now in our top 4 players and we'll be handicapped at the gates now for the start of the season.

I really feel for the guy.

I think we should all drop a quick line to the club. Get someone better to argue the case

This may sound ridiculous and over the top but... Can we take these corrupt/inept MRO clowns to the TAS?

Let a third party with no bias and international exposure deal with these Muppets.

even if the Tribunal finds he was contesting the ball “it was not reasonable to elect to bump at any stage”.

This doesn't make sence. You can't ever elect to protect your space under any circumstances, while contesting the ball?  Rubbish.

About as poor form as your reason for not attending the Pies game last Friday night.

Blaming Nibbler for putting his family ahead of his career is wrong also. Then for you to conjure up it as a reason for you to  not go is even worse.

Pathetic in fact. 10 years of loyal service a premiership hero not sure we need fans with this memory or sort of appreciation.

I never used Neal Bullen as a reason for not attending the footy last week. You might have the wrong guy.

and another thing ...

why was the delayed concussion leading to the high impact aspect not even questioned?

where was the proof it was related to this incident, surely it is open to questioning?

at what point are we going to grow some balls and call out that the MRO and Jeff Gleeson, no matter how independent they try to be, are both collingwood people and will forever be about as transparent as a brick?

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
