One of the aĺl time greats is pushing a bit good footballer but has a few weaknesses hopefully they will be addressed pre season.

I must admit i laughed when Goodwin asked about the culture and when Goodwin asked him to define culture he didn't answer it.

 

I thought goody spoke well and I was delighted to hear of all the issues Clayton has. Gives me a lot more confidence he’ll be back to his best next year.

The concern for me is that Petracca hasn’t said anything publicly and the club hasn’t denied it, so the fact remains that one of the people who we should all trust the most “has lost faith in the direction of the club”. A player like trac doesn’t say that for no reason. I hope that it is the issue with the medicos and not a reference to our culture, but it sounded like both.

I do find it very very very suspicious that Anb now wants to go home. I can’t help but think he wouldn’t go if he thought we were a chance for another flag, so why is his confidence in us gone?

Similarly, with viney. I can’t help but think his dad has heard him complaining about something at Melbourne, be it culture or otherwise. Prompting his old man to let north know he’s potentially gettable.

I dont blame any of the above but we need to work out what’s going on that’s causing three of our best leaders to want out. Whichever way you shape it, it’s a shambles.

The positive is, that if we can get the underlying issues sorted, we will likely see a big jump in performance.

I'm very sceptical about what I read in the media.

Also, public relations = propaganda, so I don't pay too much heed to what gets said at a press conference either.

I’m not a big fan of that phrase either but personally I thought he sounded honest and open about the issues discussed and I believe they are serious about listening to and addressing concerns that will / have been raised. As a supporter I don’t think we can ask for much more atm

That’s true of almost everyone in the afl. They are trained to do it. I would argue goodwin isn’t very good at it at all.

Football clubs are made of a diverse bunch of highly competitive, egocentric, often not super intelligent players. They don't and will never all see eye to eye, share the same passions for reading the bible and knitting, or agree about everything. 

Is our culture perfect? Obviously not. 

Is any club's culture perfect? Obviously not.

Are we getting air time because it's easy to pick on an underperforming club? Absolutely

Been a perfect storm of everything that could go wrong has. Despite several bad games and enduring controversies we have been up for the fight even up to last round.

i listened to Simon’s presser but I still am worried about the silence from Trac on this. 
the clubs statement yesterday was very wishy washy and didn’t instill me with any great confidence on whether Trac wanted to stay just that we would enforce his contract.

really want to hear from Trac. Say it ain’t so Trac.

I counted the use of that term... got to two, then I got drawn in to his very professional handling of the Club's position and his complete control of the press conference, so I may have missed one... hardly worthy of a smug comment!

Hello, could this be Tom Morris... wanting to eek out further drama (therefore more clicks)? Trac, quite clearly, hasn't been silent on this "saga". He is simply selective about who he is sharing his view with, and at the moment it ain't you, Joe!

Of course, there would be other factors, but it's a wider issue the last few years I believe, and the examples we've seen this season have been particularly bad.

Where did I say 'celebrating'? Awesome effort is an entirely different thing. Interesting also that clubs and players in particular can't win. If they play through injury the club is negligent.  Conversely,  if they don't get on the field they're accused of being weak and not toughing it out. Kane Cornes has potted Nick Cox and Todd Marshall for being soft and not cut out for the game. Lose, lose.

Ox's best prognostication was a few weeks ago saying Charlie Curnow was due and would kick a bag. Even though he was nowhere near to best forward currently (Jesse that is)

"One of the all time greats" is very accurate. Already 2 coaches' awards. Multiple AA, multiple club champion - 2 Brownlow votes in his first game!!!

Was a fantastic interview, he was the ultimate progressional especially with the little [censored] Tom Morris in the room. Handled himself fantastically and was open and honest, spoke with a real calmness and was very solution focused. 
 

Compare that to Bevo… he couldn’t control himself after losing a round 1 match and let loose on Morris. 
 

Perhaps Goody is the right man to navigate use through this turbulence

I applaud his level of bravery to get out on the field , but seems really dumb for the club to allow him to play while so banged up. I was one who got stuck into Clarry at times this year due to what he has produced on field which has been way below his standard and barely AFL standard recently. He should never have been playing with such injuries I thought we learned our lesson in 2022 by selecting the effectively the same 22 every week when we have able replacements playing good footy at Casey and not manage players after the 10-0 start ,we saw what happened in finals.
