He signed on for three more years in April 2023. He'd have known a baby was on the way.

I know a lot can happen in a year and half, hell I was excited to start my new job in June 2023 and now I'm looking for the door. But he'd had ten years on the place prior to signing.

Sorry but somethink stinks. I'm sure his reason is genuine but seems like a "may as well at this point" scenario.

Have you had a baby?
Knowing you are having a baby and actually having a baby is very different.
Maybe his wife is struggling, maybe the baby is not well, maybe he has sick family. Life happens and football is still a career for these guys.

The timing only sucks because it gives everyone another reason to pile on the club.
He is contracted and if we don’t want him to go, we won’t let him go. But given he’s been such an amazing clubman, if his reasons are genuine, and there is no reason to believe otherwise, I’m sure the club will accommodate his request.

And for those who thinks he won’t get us much, are kidding themselves. He’s highly regarded by those who actually understand the game. Port could fix one of their biggest issues with him, which is their flaky defensive efforts!

A Melbourne clubman has notified the Demons he would like to leave Victoria at the end of the season for family reasons.

Place is TOTALLY IMPLODING ! CACTUS DELECTI Methinks

Wow. Nibblers gone from whipping boy to lost lover.

sad to see him go but understand completely. Hopefully we can turn it into a win.

Always comes across as a top bloke

Hope all is well with his family

Really undervalued member of this team

Would be sad to see him leave and unfortunately I suspect we will not be fairly compensated

The MFC has a hell of lot of work in front of it

This has upset me, wish ANB all the best if it does eventuate postseason.

We should try and get as many as possible against the Pies to say thank you to a premiership Demon.

Think we can offical say this is now a full rebuild we aren’t having a quick reset for a flag tilt next year.
Might be better in the long run.
I’m sure he has genuine family reason and wish him all the best, but really really hard at this stage to think something doesn’t stink bad within the club for at least 2 of our leaders to be unhappy or want out.

Disastrous news. Not because of some sort of broader problem but because he’s a heart and soul leader of the club and a key player in our side. Largely irreplaceable.

When the media say Trac wants out they are right. When they say ANB isn’t leaving due to what is going on, they are wrong. Don’t you get it?

Yeah I get it big time PLACE IS IMPLODING EXPONENTIALLY!🤯

Astonished at this. Only 2 years left and the excuse is family reasons? I take that back if family reasons mean someone is gravely ill, but for a new baby? Give me a break, it’s Adelaide for God’s sake

Tough stuff, big man!

It’s ok PF, Jefferson hasn’t left yet!

Can’t see the remainder of his career flourishing without the state of the art, indoor, living room sized artificial grass area at Casey. Good luck Nibbler I will miss you.

A lot of people on here will be happy. Means they can complain constantly about how ordinary we are.

Not sure how much more I can take of this year. If anything else comes out 'breaking' and a player wants out, think I want out 🫥

Perhaps him and his partner have really struggled in early parenthood? It takes a village to raise a family, Nibblers connection is in SA. He gave his all for 10 years and was part of the flag he has done his time

yeah, exactly the kind of player we need to keep during hard times.

It 100% has to do with whatever is going on. It’s all to do with timing.

It’s got nothing to do with anything that’s currently going on.

It’s been in the works since not long after his baby was born.

The family wasn’t planning on announcing it now. It came out today as the result of a leak.

Also absolute LOL at everyone being sad when 90% of posters on this site have done nothing but heap [censored] on Nibbler for most of his career.
Classic Demonland.

BS. Think about requesting a trade this week. This week of all weeks. After JV, Trac have all been linked with moves.

If it was genuine for family reasons make it known once the season ends, heck wait until next week.

To do it now not 1 day after the Trac statement is for all to see.

3 minutes ago, Gawndy the Great said:

Right because people don’t usually plan for these things.

This is some A-grade rubbish from you.

Firstly, the article explicitly says he requested a trade weeks ago. Not this week.

Secondly, there is no report or suggestion thatViney or Trac have requested trades.

Thirdly, you either don’t have kids or have had a charmed run. But the suggestion that you can plan for kids and map it all out and it all goes to that plan is misguided and honestly, to those of us who do have kids, offensive. Who are you to judge him or his partner or his child on what is working for them?

Take your disappointment and vent it somewhere else.

The baby wasn't even conceived when he signed on if she was born in February 2024.

The plans might have been conceived though?

So anyone still in denial about Trac?

Club is imploding before our very eyes.

These are the sorts of pea-brained takes that have been increasing on this forum for some time.

Just remembered I can ignore accounts here. Wonderful.

Will sting, but if it’s genuine would help him to get home. Lovely bloke met him a few times and wish him nothing but happiness

Nibbler would be in my top 5 Melbourne players. He is the ultimate team player who has improved every year to be probably our most consistent player who performs his role week in week out to one of our leaders. If he wants to go home to SA for family reasons, as much as it will be difficult to cover the loss, I have no doubt the footy department will make sure it happens. Champion 🏆

On a side note, I suspect this is the real story and the "Trac wants out" narrative was spun before this to create an illusion that the club is in turmoil.

The single biggest issue currently facing the club is that we have a leaky mouth amongst the ranks again!

Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

The Dees are back at the MCG on Thursday for the annual blockbuster ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers. Can the Demons win back to back games for the first time since Rounds 17 & 18 last season? Who comes in and who goes out?
