Yep I totally agree. I almost see it like a first wave of Covid situation when we all had time to think and maybe too much time to think. Many people in my industry ended up moving jobs aroubd that time and I'd say a very large number of us were considering it. 

His life threatening injury and experience around it could well have put his head in a space it would not normally be in, I'm confident the people in the club see it this way if the media don't.

IMO clearly communication between Trac, club and players has broken down. That doesn’t just happen out of nowhere though and so there must I think have been a deterioration of his relationship with the club and his teammates prior. 

 

This has to be the case otherwise the whole two way frustration starting from KB doesn’t add up.

If CP's family is so red hot for the Pies I reckon they would be drooling at the thought of their boy playing alongside Nick Daicos. Not much of what has consumed this thread makes much sense given, as others have observed, this apparent tantee does not put Trac in a good light. A fleeting thought that is of no greater value than any other speculation here is that maybe Tom Morris' link is with the family rather than the Connors group and that this whole thing has become a Petracca clan fever dream.

"IF" any of this is true and Trac is causing this.  I think the club need to bring him in, and have a stern word to him.

something along the lines of: "you are a leader of this club on 1mil+ a year, we have had 1 bad year. if you have issues come to us. we will work through them, we don't want our club dragged through the media like this."

Now this is assuming Trac hasn't talked to anyone about these issues and his management etc are leaking info.

For the sake of argument, let's say tracc really does want to get to a 'big' club.

And for this exercise, let's say he means a Victorian club

And let's say a driver for that is not being happy with the club's 'direction', which I assume includes our chances of winning a flag.

The big clubs in Victoria are the pies, bombers tigers and blues.

The pies missed the 8 after winning their flag and have multiple best 22 players above 30 and a dearth of talented players in the key 50 to 100 game bracket.

I'm not going to write them off but i honestly believe we are much better placed in the next few years to win a flag.

The blues are still in the hunt for finals this year, just, and have good upside. But they have cripps and walsh  - do they really want another  bull inside mid? 

And sure, tracc can go forward- but they have McKay and Curnow 

The tigers are in full rebuild mode. And so years away from a flag.

And the bombers are, well, the bombers. They would love to have tracc, and he actually would be a great fit list wise. 

But are the bombers realistically closer to a flag than us?

And the bombers have more dramas than even us. 

And leaving aside flag chances, it's hard to see how any of those four clubs get a deal done.

The problem for tracc is at this stage of his career, with the salary he would command (not to mention what a club would have to trade and/or give up in terms of draft picks), even if we were willing to trade, there are very few clubs for whom it would make sense to trade him in. 

For example, for starters the tigers would have to give up their number one pick, which makes no sense for a club in rebuild mode.

The pies might be able to get it done, but it would be at the expense of adding yet another best 22 player in the back half of his career.

And given he would instantly become their highest paid player, trading in tracc would create chaos in terms of their player payments.

The blues, as a starting point, would have to give us Curnow or Mackay and basically all their draft picks.

It all feels like a shot accross the bow by tracc and his management.

That's to say it is an ambit claim, a flex. As ive noted, they've over played their hand.

So I predict they are left with one play - lean into the redemption, reconciliation narrative.

Look, i am a reasonable guy, if they give us Weitering, Walsh, Cripps, Curnow and Mckay, plus pay their salary for us and agree to take Lachie Hunter as well, they can have Trac.

I agree with most of this hut playing devil’s advocate, if the AFL allow clubs to trade picks two years out, most of those clubs will be able to offer first rounders in 2024, 2025 and 2026. 

If he wants to go, Trac will put that to the club with a trade request and try to convince us that we’re better off with three first round picks than a player who doesn’t want to be here.

The Morris segment didn’t shed any new light really. I’m still very confident Trac will not be traded. When the head coach says “I can guarantee you, Christian and Clayton will both be in the red and blue next year” and the club puts out a statement saying Christian will not be traded I think it’s pretty safe otherwide lots of people will have egg on their faces.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the conversations with the club and Christian are a lot more advanced in the repair of the relationship based on those statements.

I don’t think it will get to him wanting to be traded but if it does future firsts should not or part of it unless it’s Richmond’s. Too easy to get caught out with them.

Christian's brother Julian works for Connors Sports Management, the same firm that manages his affairs. Family and management are one of the same.

I keep clear of footy journalism so I am totally in the dark about Morris. 

If Tracc's managers are leaking, why are they leaking to only Morris?  What's in it for them to give him exclusives?
