Thing is, we’re responsible for closing said era. All through being naive, ignorant and complacent.

Im not sure. cant agree with that re Brayshaw. Then 2022 was messed up by going too hard for too long and not easing into the season rather than complacency. Oliver is another thing … although I thought we do ok this year w him. maybe we left it too long. If trac hadn’t nearly died would this trade even be being talked about? I’m sure some of this is on the club but not all.

At this point I just hope we don't take a raw deal like Harry Mc for Trac

Would be a shame for such a loved player to torch his legacy at a club like this. I really hope we speaks sooner rather than later

I’m turning on Trac for turning on our club. Hiding in the shadows is a gutless move. His management are a disgrace and he’s responsible for wounding our club every day he says nothing.

Trac is too gutless to say he wants a trade because of the chance it fails. So he wants to run our club into the ground so we have no other option. Pathetic.

Understandably, many supporters are annoyed with the bloke.  It's almost as though the more the MFC is being blown up the better the chance he has to force a trade against what was overwhelming odds only a week, or so, ago.  He must really want out, because he's damaging his precious brand also.

Unlike some, I don't think things are irretrievable.  Ten years and copious memories don't quickly disappear, even during a time where parties have fallen out of love.

If I'm the club I'm holding firm unless there was an offer to good to be true, which is a remote possibility.

I get why some supporters are now certain he's gone, or even want him gone, but that's emotive.

A strong club will remain cool, calm and collected and make decisions that suit the club and its stakeholders.  And if that means he stays, which I suspect it will, he stays.  I hope we're what I've just described.

This x 1000.

Sure but the club has also been saying for years, trust us we will have the new facilities bedded down soon, just can't say anything specific, have to dot the i's and cross the t's - maybe he took them at their word and now sees it ain't happening before he retires. Not saying this is THE reason but another straw added to the pile.

That was never going to happen in his playing career, his manager needs to be sacked if he thought so

If the game against Freo showed us twice its that we are too slow in the midfield anyway.

That is the silver lining. We were heading towards a slow death with the style of play which was largely forced by the types of players on our list.

We were always inside midfielder heavy. Now Trac wouldn’t have been my first choice given his attacking profile, but we needed a big trade to bring in some picks and speed up the regeneration of the playing group and move to a more modern style of play.

It means we won’t be competing for some time, but that’s ok. It happens. Our next chance will be sooner if we get this trade through.

Maybe not a popular opinion, but we need change.

For some reason I can see him at the Bombers. They would move heaven and earth to get him. Pick 8 plus F1 and a player. If what they are saying about Trac is true, the bombers would be a good fit

Or Freo holding 9, 10, 17.

Pies and the Blues have zero chance

Sure. But you make those kinds of decisions with a clear head and some open water between you and injury/trauma, not while you're still in the throes of it.

Ideally yes, and any good psych will give that advice to their patients but it's not always how it plays out in reality.

I remember the off season when schwarz did his knee and soon after we lost charles and jakovich permenantly .  lyon hurt his back and Tingay cut his leg so badly on a glass door he was never the same. It felt utterly calamitous and the dream was over. This has got the same sour , bitter, sad feeling re Brayshaw, Oliver and Trac . I’m starting to brace myself.

The curse has a h it of repeating itself! I agree with Lyon though needs to be a leader and suck it up and be part of the solution .. was ok when he signed for 7 years that comes with responsibility & leadership

He, or someone close to him, is leaking to the press. It's messed up.

It would have to be his management.

Didn't a poster on this site in the last couple of weeks mention that a major development was going to go down in the off season after chatting to Richo at Casey?

Can anyone remember who dropped this nugget of knowledge?

I don't think Mckay alone is enough in this trade, I reckon Elijah Hollands would do nicely also.

You know what send him to the Peptides.

Send him for a King's Ransom.

Pick 8, 2nd rounder, Future 1st and one of their mids, Durham will do.

Sung to Someone Like You

Verse 1
I heard that you're settled down,
But I'm aiming higher, want to own this town.
I thought that you'd be thrilled for me,
But now I see, it's not how it’s meant to be.

Pre-Chorus
I was part of something great, we won it all in ‘21,
But now I crave a bigger stage, the spotlight and the fun.
More fans to cheer my name, more followers to gain,
Success is calling, I can't remain.

Chorus
Never thought I'd leave it all behind,
But I’m chasing dreams that I can't find.
With crowds that roar, the lights so bright,
I’m moving on to claim my right.

Verse 2
The past was good, but now it’s time,
To step it up, in a brand new prime.
A chance to grow, expand my brand,
To be the star that everyone demands.

Pre-Chorus
Playing in those famous stripes, or under yellow and black,
Where legends are made, and there’s no turning back.
I’m heading for the top, can’t stay in the past,
A bigger stage, and I’ll make it last.

Chorus
Never thought I'd leave it all behind,
But I’m chasing dreams that I can't find.
With crowds that roar, the lights so bright,
I’m moving on to claim my right.

Bridge
Sorry, my teammates, it’s not you, it’s me,
I’m just reaching for what I know I can be.
For every cheer and every post,
I’ll be the one they talk about the most.

Chorus
Never thought I'd leave it all behind,
But I’m chasing dreams that I can't find.
With crowds that roar, the lights so bright,
I’m moving on to claim my right.

Outro
I wish nothing but the best for you,
But now it’s time for something new.
In the spotlight’s glare, I’ll stand tall,
And maybe one day, you’ll understand it all.

The Club needs new personnel upstairs and the Football Department

But we cannot trade Tracc on a 7 year deal for McKay.
That is capitulation

It has to dig in and remain strong. Fix the problems….

I for one can see this narrative turning very quickly against Trac.

Whoever is managing this PR disaster for him needs to be sacked.

Maybe when he becomes damaged goods he’ll realize that you don’t [censored] where you eat.

Am I missing something or is a "godfather offer" kind of irrelevant unless Petracca agrees to the trade?

Free agency was a zero sum game. The (best) players got enormous power. The clubs had it taken away.

The same goes for us. He signed a long term deal which means if we aren’t happy with a trade, a trade isn’t getting done

You can’t eat your cake and then wonder why your pants don’t do up.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
