So effectively Collingwood have destroyed our club by injuring Brayshaw and Petracca.

We don't need the play the victim here though do we. We can hold firm on what we get and come out of this one on top. Then we can hope our new playing group are united and feel a burn in their bellies that makes them want to crush teams like the Pies the way most fans seem to.

Let's face it, it's been obvious to many people over the last 3 years that our group just didn't seem to have the fire that was needed to get it done when under real pressure. Who knows, maybe this might just help us.

Really disappointed in the way our Norm Smith medalist , and home grown premiership hero has leaked his situation to the press, most likely as a deliberate ploy through his management creating nothing but angst to the club that gave him everything and the supporters that loved him, even after the terrible luck we’ve had with Brayshaw etc etc.

If true , not the man I thought he was at all.

I think whoever has advised him has done a horrible job.

I’m so glad my long held admiration for Clayton has not been torn asunder! And that I can retain the #13 across my guernseys. My 9yo is a little confused as we talked about it - “why does he want to leave? He’s my favourite! What number will I put on my top now Alex Neale Bullen is leaving to?”

I said number 13, 7, 11 or 6! Or 1. Decisions!! His grandmother did have Jake Lever at Romsey kinder though so there is that 😂😂

That is an interesting take. What if there was a view that the window closes at the end of 2024 and then that was our preseason?

Not turning on Petracca at all. I’ve never liked him. A few DL-ers can attest to this since I’ve shared my feelings about it privately for two years now, rather than publicly.

Do you know him at all? Clearly you don’t because if you did you’d know he’s got his own interests way ahead of the Club’s.

Despite not liking him though, I was very confident he would stay and I hoped he would stay which is why I hated having to hear all the misery-mongers leading up to that point in time, a time when no one knew what he’d decide to do.

PS: I find it amusing, also a little disturbing, but not surprising that you would take the time to find particular posts from two weeks ago purely out of spite. Your post serves no other purpose.

You really are a spiteful, petty little person, aren’t you.

Is he the gun player you were alluding to as being a bit of an [censored] to the cheer squad and supporters?

Clubs are not forced to trade players just because a player wants out & if they can’t  get the right compensation and the other club wants to pay the contract , club needs to dig in or he’s back playing for us in 2025

exactly an alternative view is we are being forced into a rebuild. Take the initiative, be ruthless and trade them all while they have currency.

If a player wants to leave to the point where they all but say it and blame the club do we really think they are going to come back preseason keen and raring to go?

Adding further to that.

While Petracca does want out, Edmund says that the Demon understands a trade could be unrealistic given his huge trade value and the fact that he’s contracted until the end of the 2029 season.

Even though the 28-year-old may remain a Demon, Edmund says that a number of his teammates are unhappy with him and that relationships have been strained between player and club across the board.

“But he knows it's very difficult, and he knows he signed that seven-year contract a couple of years ago through to 2029. So, at the same time, he's realistic to where he sits,” Edmund said.

“More than a couple of those teammates are unhappy with him at the moment. They didn't like the trip to Noosa in particular, they were vocal about that and there’s been relationships strained across the board.”

isn't the trip to Noosa old news?  Sorted last week.

I'd probably totally believe he's gone if it wasn't coming from the mouths of Tom Morris and Sam McClure.

I remember a discussion a while ago about how nice our players are. And you said at the time there’s one who’s quite rude to support staff, volunteers etc. I always suspected it was number 13 but now I wonder anew if it might be someone who is at present the subject of wild speculation.

FWIW, back at the Richmond Praccy / family day early this year, of all the players to be out there signing autographs, the very last two players remaining out there long after the scheduled closing time were our Titan, Max Gawn, and one Clayton Oliver, battered and bruised from a bone crunching bump, and fresh off the off-season from hell. Speaks volumes about his character.

How about hearing it from a Carlton Coterie member? lol.

Is there any reason why the latest update regarding Tracc's exit interview has been removed?

He is towing the company line.

Deary me..

Some really startling points in this.

Garry Pert currently in an emergency board meeting discussing all the current matters including the Petracca saga.

Lloyd stating that he's spoken to some current melbourne players that have said that they think would be best if Christian left the club.

Due diligence says to me the Club has to explore all possibilities. If a club is able to provide a great Players/picks compensation package, I say go for it. And surely the Club gets to pick the best deal?

From her posts she has more than moved on.  I thought she was just making the point about what can be said publically to maintain your negotiating position.

Ok maybee I misread apology!☺️

I’m interested in how this sits with Max, Jack Viney and possibly Steven May.

The club itself might be resolute in the fact that there’s no trade but I doubt the players would want to go into battle with him now that he’s made all this so public.

Was this the 'There is one player who never comes over to the cheer squad and says hello and is friendly with fans" topic I recall reading? A few of us guessed Clarry, and some others, and you said Clarry was the opposite: always friendly and willing to chat. Maybe it was Tracc eh?

If you don't want to answer, thats fine. Because it's still public..

This is getting a bit New Ideas gossip raggy now, haha sorry.

When I said that he never interacts with the cheer squad, at that time, that was the thing that I probably saw as the height of his rudeness. Two years later (now) and folks would struggle to believe some of the stories we could tell you about him. Put it this way… we’ll take no interaction over horrible interaction any day.

As for Clarrie, he may not have the charisma or the PR nous of Tracc, but he’s more loyal to the Club and us fans than you could hope for. I’m grateful to the Club and the coaches and nearly every player for not washing their hands of him. He’s a Dee through and through.

Barassi went to Carlton and if Tracc goes there too were gonna need a Voodoo Doll.

Gaz is a pro. Raise that value.

The club are handling this perfectly. Just continue to say he’s contracted and we aren’t trading him. Wait and see what happens. No one comes with a monster off he’s back for day 1 of pre season. A contract’s a contract.

Shouldn't.

It's a team sport, we won that as a TEAM.

Exactly.

I barrack for Melbourne Football Club, the mighty Demons.

Players come and go, Coaches come and go, Presidents come and go.

When they give their all and do well I appreciate their efforts but the reality is they are employees of the club, but not club itself.

My loyalty is to the club over individuals.

I recall Ron Barassi saying his loyalty was to the club he was playing / coaching at that time.

When Ron left in 65 there was great disappointment. Over time Demon supporters came to love Ron all over again as well as also view our Team’s success 54 to 64 with great pride. That legacy was not harmed because of Barassi leaving. Not getting any compensation for Ron was all together another matter.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
