I know it won't happen, but I'd love to see Fullarton come in for the two remaining games and JvR played forward for 100% of both games.

Fullarton ain't no ruck, doesn't like contact. He's a forward only.

Casey didn’t play last week, maybe that had something to do with no Jeffo.
Next week might be different.

Yes at least they are all travelling up to Gold Coast together it will be good for the full list to spend some travel and game day time together.

Chris isn't the sharpest tool in the shed at the best of times.

Perhaps Chris is, perhaps Chris is not. One thing that appeals is to replace the doorman - change can be as good as a holiday. Maybe, in 2025, it would be a good offering for Badloss, who really needs to see the other side.

Honestly the melts over Jefferson not getting selected, is worth him not getting selected.

Don’t think anyone has overreacted. Our season is done, what harm comes from playing him? It’s hardly Watts on QB all over again.

Have you done a welfare check on @picket fence

Hopefully Jeffo and Brown are late changes as emergencies.

It’s the perfect time to blood a couple of players.

Disappointed with selection. Change and review does not need to wait until seasons end.

Very wet start to the week in the GC however come Saturday, beautiful and 27°. Be nice to beat the Suns on a ground they have dominated at this season.

Understatement

we’ve had 250mm down Bangalow way.

Listened to Dwanes world the other day did anyone else catch Chris from Camberwells take?? He reckons Goody will be gone by seasons end. Now I know everyone has an opinion but for some reason I have a sneaky suspicion that he could be onto something here!

Is it available online? I’m not in melb so can’t listen. I’m happy to go through the torture of listening to Dwayne just for Chris

I live 10 mins from the ground and it’s been very wet but drying up very quickly as well as warming up.

Match committee meeting probably took all of 30 seconds this week judging by those changes.

Match committee is only Goodwin these days

Yes, Chris from Camberwell has called twice this week on Monday and Wednesday and he didn't hold back. Unfortunately Dwayne Russell gives Chris from Camberwell the royal treatment and gives him plenty of airtime and encouragement whenever he calls.

I don't really take much notice what he says but unfortunately the texters gives Dwayne plenty of encouragement to hear from him again soon.

Oh yes, Chris from Camberwell is definitely someone I suggest you listen to. He is not at all unhinged.

Neither are any of us🤪

Disappointing not to see Woey or Brown selected.

Yep, very warm and humid up here after some decent rain. 28 degrees on Saturday so you visitors ensure the summer gear is packed and tell the players to put plenty of sunscreen on.

This has been a horrible season. We have players out and the team we play get players back. Touk (nearly their best player) back for Suns which will help them in the middle. Then the weather turns against us. Be a tough game me thinks.

Chris has been banging on about our lack of a "first rover" all season. Which kinda gives you an idea of where he's at. And his tortured mispronunciation of our players names is something to behold.

If he didn't follow my club I'd think he was bloody hysterical. But he does. I also think he mentioned not renewing his membership should major upheaval not take place in the off season so Chris, while probably a lovely old fella, can G&GF.

Wow one change Bowey in Oliver out.

@picket fence is going to have a heart attack!!!!

Not the only one.  Our season is over, time to give the kids a run and see how they look at the top level.  GC have only lost once at home this year, so it's not like it's a game we expect to win.  Jefferson has more than earned a call-up.

This is part of the reason we've stagnated as a club and many no longer taking much interest imv.

Simon's selections have, on many occasions this season, been mind bogglingly more of the same olds that don't offer up much in terms of any weapons that will bother an oppo or impact in some way on match day.

Why was bowey out of the team to begin with? Was he injured or been dropped?

I think the past few weeks I stopped paying attention to selections

I may watch the start to see if McVee plays mid-field. My only point of interest for Saturday arvo.

  • CASEY: Sydney

The Casey Demons were always expected to emerge victorious in their matchup against the lowly-ranked Sydney Swans at picturesque Tramway Oval, situated in the shadows of the SCG in Moore Park. They dominated the proceedings in the opening two and a half quarters of the game but had little to show for it. This was primarily due to their own sloppy errors in a low-standard game that produced a number of crowded mauls reminiscent of the rugby game popular in old Sydney Town. However, when the Swans tired, as teams often do when they turn games into ugly defensive contests, Casey lifted the standard of its own play and … it was off to the races. Not to nearby Randwick but to a different race with an objective of piling on goal after goal on the way to a mammoth victory. At the 25-minute mark of the third quarter, the Demons held a slender 14-point lead over the Swans, who are ahead on the ladder of only the previous week's opposition, the ailing Bullants. Forty minutes later, they had more than fully compensated for the sloppiness of their earlier play with a decisive 94-point victory, that culminated in a rousing finish which yielded thirteen unanswered goals. Kicks hit their targets, the ball found itself going through the middle and every player made a contribution.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds.
This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?
