who would of thought our 50+ year drought breaking premiership coach would leave with nothing. Simon, us supporters have nothing for you. It’s over. You were able to find something in the Hub when others were down, but all in all you cannot outcoach almost all others. Thank you and we wish you well.

1 style coach , the game has gone past !!

Bloody happy we stole one !!

Our club needs a refresh !!!

Longer he stays, longer before we recover !!

We are not a super club, it will take longer to recover than everyone thinks

When he does leave (whenever that is), he'll leave as our Premiership coach. That's not nothing. And whatever the mood now, he's a famous figure of our club

Just posted this on the post game thread.

Behind at the last change so lets put one behind the ball?

Brad Scott is smart enough to play uncontested time wasting footy. Still don't go one on one? They literally had 10 minutes of kick to kick in the last quarter.

I'm pretty sure (a) the list won the flag in 21 and (b) Goodwin cannot coach on game day.

Not a great time to start over. The board has to be decisive or we will be irrelevant for another 57 years.

Sack Goodwin now!

But also, how the hell have we been looking at the same problem for 4 years (front half connection) and we currently look worse than ever before. This is coaching. And the coach and his team have no ability to fix it.

Don't forget we had a football department review in October.

can anyone name anything that's resulted in a tangible positive improvement for us?

Yep totally, the vitriol directed at a premiership coach of 10 years at our club is a disgrace IMV.

Sure, you can voice your disapproval, but have some respect.

I suspect the club is so rudderless it has nobody capable to call it. We have zero leadership on and even less off the field.

It needs to be done now but I would think after losses to Freo and The Tiges at the G, someone has to stand up and make the call.

hes a premiership coach so deserves respect

but the evidence in front of our eyes is clear. we can't let sentiment cloud our judgement. We need a new coach and I don't see the point in waiting until the end of the year

The answer is yes, a highly likely 0-6 start after next week suggests his time is up.

But some of the personal abuse aimed at Goodwin is totally out of order.

Perhaps the game has passed him by and he has failed to adapt, but our only Premiership coach in living memory does not deserve to be the target of insults.

2021 👏👏👏Premiership. Goodwin must be a SuperCoach. Is that how it works !?!

2025 0-5 after 4 straight thrashings Horrible losses. Uncompetitive.

We are sick of 3 years of

Learnings

Forward 50 connection [censored]

Getting better

We are a horrible team

No strategy

No structure

No direction

Time to go

THIS IS THE END

You are the head of the table now make the call and put him out of his misery.

Simon's legacy is being destroyed week by week.

It left a lingering stench around the club.

Not only that, but we lost more matches (%) with the stand-in coaches.

Sacking a coach sends a club backwards. Fact.

A new President with little corporate experience.

No CEO.

I’m afraid It’s not the right time to dismiss the coach.

Incorrect. Every club that wins a premiership sacked their previous coach to do it. The only exception is handover arrangements, and we're in no position to do that.

Where is this bloke that mentored the All blacks?

He's done f all and raped and pillaged the club for all sorts of coin.

Bing.. we've been going backwards for 3 years.

Your support for your club is unwavering but your love is just so blind

yes it's definitely time for a coach change

i don't think quite a few players should get off scot-free though. they need to take some of the blame.

The way we are travelling, who the hell would want to coach us. The list is stagnant, the off-field leadership is non-existent, and we have a very raw supporter base.

It would take one hell of a sales pitch or very deep pockets to convince anyone.

Should've handed over to Yze.

We had our chance by not extending Goodwin past 2023.

Yep he's done. I don't buy into the myth that we're just trying out a new gameplan and that we should all be patient. That's such a massive cop out. We're completely devoid of any gameplan or any system at all.

Goodwin has done some good in the past but he has well and truly overstayed his welcome. It pains me to say it because I used to be a big supporter of his.

I agree it’s time, but also take Alan Richardson, Choco Williams, Nathan jones had no coaching credentials needs to do an apprenticeship under a good coach. We need a new forward coach. Also recruiting has been average due to the lack of players wanting to come to this disjointed homeless club with poor leadership.

We are broken.

I raised this last week but hopefully tonight, the press ask him why our last quarters are so uncompetitive.

Conceding two goals in the last minute was disgraceful

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.
