Gawn's multiple comments for a start

But also several players I have spoken to

Was not a happy camp in 2024

And so if the issues haven't resolved?? Then what?

Time for goody to go with 18 months ago. I fear it is too late for this list and he will leave once we have truly hit rock bottom. My kids no longer follow AFL and I’m on the way out.

i didn’t buy a family membership for the first time in decades last year and won’t buy a membership while he is at the club.

How did you survive the Neeld years?

Agree. If we reckon Spargo out was a major issue then we have real problems.

Were Sydney missing Heeney or Warner?

Sydney weren't missing Heeney until they were: in the grand final. Heeney had a stress fracture and look how that turned out for the team.

Really?  What do you base that on?  And don't say from the media.  As Clarry at the Best and Fairest himself said, "don't trust the media".

“I really want to be around to implement the review findings and basically provide some stability because the next six months is going to be so important to effectively reunite the club,” Smith told the Herald Sun.

We’ve had a review of the football department and Goody has now been cleared by whatzisname of anything to do with drugs as has been falsely reported. Time to move on …

That was me who stated Brisbane's injuries and I wholeheartedly agree with you that they have a clearly better list than us with an abundance of "non top 10 draft picks" youth that stepped up big time in the likes of Lohmann and Morris.

However, they'll clearly welcome back McCarthy and Coleman next year.

And be improved also with Doedee plus Levi Ashcroft and Sam Marshall as f/s and academy players. Not sure McCarthy will step back in as he replace Cameron or LoMan. But he will add the depth factor like Gardner also. Coleman is a bona fide A grader if he picks up from where he left playing.

However our depth should be much improved with all the youngsters with another pre season gaining AFL fitness and bodies. Even some of our role players should have greater fitness and form as most had so so 2024 campaigns. Bowey Melksham Petty Chandler and even Salo and Maysie can all be more valuable.

And if Trac and Clarry are back to best or near best that will make for a big difference in our midfield and Sparrow is the big question if he fulfills his potential with performances of a 5/6 year veteran!

One thing for sure it must be a great weight off Simon’s mind going forward being vindicated in a national newspaper for all to see.

I read the full statement & I'm not sure anyone was actually vindicated.

I'm just glad it's over & both parties can get on with their respective lives.

CF they said that claims against Simon were proved to be false and that everyone was sorry for the hurt that had been caused to SG and his family.!! Pretty straight forward for mine CF.

Well, CF, that is just the miserly, ungenerous response I would expect. "The allegations were false and had no basis in fact". What rises could possibly be said?

No not straight forward. The statement refers to one particular allegation found to have no substance however over the course of this disastrous journey  allegations were made about several behavioural issues.

Sorry CF not interested in heresay this was the allegation that burdened Simon and his family for four years and now it has been put to bed I realise that people who dislike him still have their axes to grind.

So specific vindication but he wasn’t a saint?

How dare you question my age uncle, you wouldn't read about it!😂

Does he survive an 11th-13th finish / 10 to 11 wins?

I understand there are a lot factors and reasons behind a win/loss record but you’d have to say it would be a very line ball call.

Unless we have some major performance lifts from our 5-15 ranked players finishing around 10th is likely.

There won't be any sacking simply because the club has had too much bad press. A managed exit would be my guess in 2026.

Anyway let's hope 2025 delivers some fun matches

I would be surprised if we don't finish top 4 and give it a real shake in 2025...

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
