This.

The various phantom drafts seem to grow in perceived significance every season, particularly Twomey's.

As fun as they ate, they are just that - fun. Click bait.

Hell, Twomey seems to have more phantom draughts than Kit Walker's brewery.

That's not correct. He only produces one actual phantom draft, with some late mail updates right before the draft.

He has been incredibly accurate over the years, if anyone knows what's going on it's him.

Raising an eyebrow to later in the draft, it has been interesting seeing just how far Luke Trainor has slipped due to concussion. From a high of being routinely projected in the top-5, here's the range of picks he is placed at the main phantom drafts going around;

28; Cal Twomey's AFL.com

28; ESPN

>27; Foxsports

20-40; Also Foxsports

18; SEN

22; RookieMe Central

Concussion gives us all the skin-crawling sweats for obvious and sensible reasons, but surely a slide into the late 20s would start making us consider trading up to grab a potential jackpot in the key defender succession plan.

We wouldn't need him on the field immediately so the scope for a cautious and thorough management plan would be there, he'd have great mentors, and we might be the no.1 club for responsible concussion management at the moment.

Just a couple of months ago he was considered the outright best tall in the draft.

There's a bit more to Trainor then just concussion.

More off field related.

Did anyone hear Chris from Camberwell on SEN? That guy has no idea😂😂😂. He Thinks we’re going to trade pick 5 to Richmond for picks 6, 10 and 11. And we’re going to take the Whitlock twins.

Man that guy’s such a hard listen😮‍💨😅

& then Dwayne puts it out there as  if the blokes got the inside word at the Dees [censored] 💀

Herald Sun late mail has linked us to Joe Berry, saying taking him at 9 could be a surprise of the night

Still primarily linked to Allan and Lindsay at that pick though

Meanwhile Jack Henderson of the Werribee FC has done a medical with us and seems a chance for our later pick should he be available

Just broke into a sweat at the thought of Berry at 9. Let Freo take him and we can get him back in a year when Kozzy requests a trade there🫣

I actually really rate Berry but 9 does seem a few spots to high for him, especially if Allan or Lindsay were still on the board

Cal mentioned us having some interest in Berry yesterday, it’s probably where they got that from.

Berry’s a jet, we have a heap of good options open to us. Another that would help address our ball movement forward of centre.

Was just thinking, Bo Allen has a fair bit of Jordan Dawson in the way he plays.

One phantom draft with two updates is three phantom drafts by my reckoning.

Tomato, Tomatoe.

And I didn't say twomey wasn't accurate - well at least in terms of the top 10.

But if he is correct the hundred other phantom drafts with different selections are, by definition, wrong.

Chris from Camberwell says a lot of things whilst purporting to represent the entire Melbourne faithful. He said Goodwin would be gone by Christmas! I've never heard him apologise for statements that were later shown to be lacking depth or reason. His annual cries for Jefferson to be accommodated in the forward line as the Messiah are enough to put me off the player altogether. Fortunately for Jefferson, he is now worthy of serious consideration if Roo, Disco or Fritta go down.

I don't recall Chris from Camberwell saying anything deep or reasonable ever.

Agreed … was thinking Chris Judd 🤣🤣but that’s very optimistic 🤣🤣

Berry not a small fwd - he is 6 foot

more a medium tricky fwd but does play smallish apparently

I have to join the chorus.  Langford and Berry would be a dream outcome for me.

He's off to Norf you reckon?

If Melbourne want Chandler to go higher up the ground (potentially in an ANB role) , we know what Kozzy is like with his suspensions and his flirting with going home and our extreme interest in Nick Watson last year carried on to our big interest in Kako this year, Joe Berry makes a lot of sense.

in JT we trust, right? 👍🏼

you've been on fire lately mate! love it!

I'll be happy with any of Tauru, Allan, Lindsay or Berry at pick 9.

I think all of them would slot into our round 1 team.

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.

  • CASEY: Collingwood

It was freezing cold at Mission Whitten Stadium where only the brave came out in the rain to watch a game that turned out to be as miserable as the weather.
The Casey Demons secured their third consecutive victory, earning the four premiership points and credit for defeating a highly regarded Collingwood side, but achieved little else. Apart perhaps from setting the scene for Monday’s big game at the MCG and the Ice Challenge that precedes it.
Neither team showcased significant skill in the bleak and greasy conditions, at a location that was far from either’s home territory. Even the field umpires forgot where they were and experienced a challenging evening, but no further comment is necessary.
