    Can you explain exactly how Geelong gain from leaking this information though? It doesn't strengthen their pitch (1), in fact it would do quite the opposite - Oliver would feel used knowing they have leaked a confidential meeting (2). It does no favours to them in their trade relationship with Melbourne. I'm not sure exactly what the benefit would be for them?

    In terms of the meeting place - Oliver knows the details. Presumably he would have spoken to his management, family, friends, who knows who else? Plenty of people outside the Geelong Football Club would have heard about it(3).

    3: True, but that the meeting was on was known well before it took place. It was actually announced in the morning prior.

    I can't say for sure it was Geelong's doing, but it is entirely plausible because they stood to benefit.

    Read the original post again, the conversation had with OIiver was a drunk one.

    You mentioned before that it's not up to one person to decide what bullying is, it's also not up to one person to decide what harassment is and you have no idea if Clayton was ok with that conversation or not.

    Geelong have been working Bailey Smith for 2 years. Probably the same with Clarry. Media do their bidding every time. Also Pies and Blues. Good luck controlling the narrative when any of them are involved.

    I’d say a combination of two. Andrew Mackie comes across as seriously shifty.

    Correct. The MFC could be dead silent and all the information is still being discussed by everyone. 
    My belief is that most trade talk is generated by Player Managers

    We don’t seem to be linked to any similar player coming to us, so that is probably another indication of our intention.

    Clarry hasn’t requested a trade either.

    Yes - but it all makes sense that Morris' mail is coming from the managers when you go over what he's saying:

    re Petracca after the Oliver tour of Geelong.  Not exact quote but something like "Make no mistake, this is not Petracca pushing Oliver out - his issue was with the way Melbourne handled Oliver, not Oliver himself."

    Petracca was overseas when this was said.  Would he really be prioritising getting this out into the media or is this something that he can leave with people that are paid to look after his affairs - like a manager?

     

    I'm not going to drag up all of the comments Morris has made on Petracca / Oliver over the last 3 months... but I think you'll find it lines up perfectly with what their management would know and want out in the public.

    Geelong are able to control the media narrative better than any club, the local paper (the addy) is more or less a newsletter about the Cats, but it's well known that their local journos are not to write anything negative - unless the club wants a player out - otherwise that persons job is in danger. Hence when Stengle OD out the front of a nightclub recently it was all swept under the carpet very quickly and he even played the next week.

    Sliding Doors is pretty much the worst thing produced by the AFL media and that's saying something. No idea why anyone reads it.

    t's not Barrett's call! I'll never accept that sports 'journalists' have the right to call for a club official to be removed (however they phrase it!), no matter how big the reputation (or ego, Whateley!). It's the Club's call, and the Review may point to that end (for Pert), however... butt-out Barrett!

    For instance ... I do not believe that Pert (and the Board) acted independently to the FD & Playing group.  They all knew

    Why?  Because the playing group would be P/O with Oliver so the FD can't side with Oliver.  Pert & the Board know all that

    If the FD did side with Oliver then forget about the team playing as a team ongoing.  A toxic situation would arise

    But the FD have given Oliver a number of 2nd chances.  But after the Brownlow incident and the 2 missed appointments I reckon they've all had enough

    To me, the whole club wants him out but getting him out is darn near impossible because of the $10Million Contract

    Would Oliver take a paycut?  Maybe but how much?

      Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

      Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
