That doesn't look great for Port. They've gone from wanting 2 first round picks to taking one, some hot and cold players, and giving a future first.

Also wasn't North offering one of their early pics? Wasn't Dan initially saying he doesn't mind who he goes to? Was that just to appear accommodating because he is in essence requesting this trade for more $$ and a bigger contract

Yeah I thought Port were copping a bad deal there, if you believe Houston is worth 2x first rounders.

Sense GC & Coll were keen to bundle all the deals together and Port realised late that giving up that future first rounder just didn’t make sense.

Collingwood will need to give more than fringe players and a future first rounder to make this work.

Hoping Collingwood get desperate now and do something silly to get 13 from Gold Coast, then trade their F1 too.

Possible.  Wright is well out of the picture now and Fly is on record as saying he wants players, not picks.

Nothing would satisfy me more than watching Macrae leave Collingwood in tatters in 2 years with an old list, no youngsters and no first round picks, all the while we've gone all Baby Demons and won a flag.

Really hope that the Suns refuse to trade Pies Pick 13 if it’s not part of a bigger trade. Pick 23 is more than enough for Noble and they have other takers for 13.

Do we make a cheeky offer of pick 9 for Houston?

That's worse than the Pies offer. Plus Houston doesn't want to come to us, so move on.

I hope not.

Is Houston actually any good or overhyped cause of the draft?
He's never caught my attention.

CEO.
I've no doubt that BC would operate by the letter of the (AFL) law as regards player payments but if there are any loopholes, and I've no doubt there are, he'd find them.
An example would be the prospect of Clarry going to Geelong and taking a pay cut. I mean, really?

I'm sure Brian Cook is an ethical man. The PwC bloke, however...

Yes please.

But I know that ship has sailed.

Absolute gun.

Reigning 2 X All Australian and has previously kicked the winning goal after the siren from 55 meters out in wet conditions are probably an indication

Think Port end up with pick 13 Dub.

Right you are Colm.

Confusing tweet from Morris, he goes on to speculate about 13 to Pies in the Noble deal with Suns.

my brain hurts

This may all have to do with the TV coverage to ensure a large viewing.

Meh ... Just looked and he's 27yrs old.
When I think of Port it's Wines, Butters, Rozee and Horn-Francis who come to mind.
Not Houston.
Must be an accumulator, someone who gets the ball a shedload but does nothing with it.
And if he was any good, I'd know who he was and Port would be better than they are.

  • PREVIEW: Sydney

The two teams competing at the MCG on Sunday afternoon have each traversed a long and arduous path since their previous encounter on a sweltering March evening in Sydney a season and a half ago. Both experienced periods of success at various times last year. The Demons ran out of steam in midseason while the Swans went on to narrowly miss the ultimate prize in the sport. Now, they find themselves outside of finals contention as the season approaches the halfway mark. The winner this week will remain in contact with the leading pack, while the loser may well find itself on a precipice, staring into the abyss. The current season has presented numerous challenges for most clubs, particularly those positioned in the middle tier. The Essendon experience in suffering a significant 91-point loss to the Bulldogs, just one week after defeating the Swans, may not be typical, but it illustrates the unpredictability of outcomes under the league’s present set up.

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.
