The Casey Demons have a short trip down the road this Saturday afternoon to Kinetic Stadium by the bay to take on the much improved Frankston Dolphins who are in the running for a finals appearance for the first time in several seasons. The Demons still are a mathematical possibility of making the wild card game but it’s a highly unlikely scenario.

There will however, be a few players going around who will be pressing for a place at AFL level so Frankston is the place to be at on Saturday arvo.

Last week, I raised uncle Roy George who impressed in his one game for Casey earlier in the season and was surprised when his name came up as an emergency for the game. Here’s hoping that we see him weaving his magic in Casey colours again before the end of the season.

So much for the serious cork speculation, Taj Woewodin named on a half back flank. Rather than simply omitted, β€˜managed’ suggests support will be offered by the club chaplain. Pickett will be pleased as young Jefferson was named. Will be watching tomorrow in anticipation of Roy George’s  re-appearance that bloke has some serious X factor.

Woey needs a full game or two so makes sense to go back to casey

Was Roy George part of an NGA or similar arrangement for us which now means something again thanks to someone prodding the knee of AFL HQ?

If so, and with so many people quite excited about his potential, we might as well begin thinking of him as part of our development program already.

Wouldn’t mind seeing Woey, McAdam, or even Howes and Adams have a run through the midfield.
Sometimes players need something out of the box to refresh them a bit.
We could sorely use some size in the centre.

Roy aka "Boy" George on the interchange bench

I like it

You have to wonder why it took this long for another game.

He was a fair way ahead of anyone else playing mid / forward last time imho

I’m guessing that the spelling is the same, but is the Mynott playing for Frankston, any relation to the former St Kilda great?

Also a Milne playing for Frankston in another possible St.Kilda connection?!

I think I heard Goody say Woeys corky wouldn't be risked on the long flight to Perth but they were hoping he'd get up for a game in the VFL.

Makes sense.

Who is K.Brown ? Ht and wt anybody. If this George guy is any good do the Dees get first dibs on him year's end ?

Kynan Brown, son of Nathan.  He's on the MFC list.  Most Demon fans would be aware of this.

Of course not.  Don't you know how drafting works?

In fairness the club also said they didn't think the 3 hour flight with a significant corkie was a good idea as well as giving him a full game.

Absolute rotten day outside, so am hoping to rug up, put the wood fire on when I can be bothered, and watch the Casey game. Unfortunately the game today is an away game so I will have to endure some 3rd rate parochial inarticulate commentator annoying the carp out of me, but otherwise I really enjoy the VFL. Love watching our younger listed payers running around. I hope Jefferson has another blinder.

Yes want to see Woey jnr have a full game this week. Needs to run after weeks of being the sub.

Be interested to see our new cult hero Roy George.

George Grey.  Has been definitely missed by Casey this year.  Had a great year at Frankston.

Not a great day for marking forwards but if Jeffo can snag a few he should be right in contention, pending tommorrows result and availables!

Is there ever a great day for forwards at most of these VFL grounds PF?

Be very surprised if he has either the fitness base or work ethic to run through the midfield

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.

  • NON-MFC: Round 09

Round 9 kicks off out west with the Dockers hosting a Collingwood side resting several stars. Fremantle need to make a statement on their home deck after some disappointing form on the road, while the Magpies will be keen to maintain their Top 2 position. Friday night sees a must-win clash between two sides desperate to stay in touch with the eight. St Kilda have shown glimpses while Carlton are clinging to relevance after a flat start to the season. Saturday’s twilight game at Marvel pits the Bombers against a struggling Sydney outfit. Essendon can’t afford another close match against a lower-ranked side, while the Swans risk sliding down the ladder even further. Up in Darwin, the fourth-placed Suns will look to extend their stay in the top four. The Bulldogs have hit their stride with three big wins on the trot and will be very keen to consolidate on their momentum. The always fiery Showdown looms as pivotal for both clubs. Adelaide are eyeing a spot in the Top 4 with a win, while Port Adelaide’s season could slip away if they drop another game and fall further behind the pack. Sunday begins with a yawn fest between Richmond and West Coast. The Tigers need to bank the points to stay clear of the bottom two, while the Eagles are still chasing their first win of the year. The Giants face one of the league’s toughest road trips as they travel to GMHBA Stadium to face the Cats. With GWS at risk of a third straight loss, Geelong will be eager to consolidate their position inside the eight and start their climb up the ladder. The round wraps up with the top-of-the-table Lions heading to Ninja Stadium to take on the second-last Roos. The Lions should easily take care of the struggling Roos who might be powerless against the best in the comp. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?
