He cycled home. You were close.

But he was banned from rock climbing on game day a few years ago by the club so probably had excess energy saturday evening.

That's as good as any win this year with No.22 doing his best to get the Peptides back from the death.

22 should be sent to the country leagues and never heard or seen from again.

Yep,,he's a bottler, isn't he. Just when you thought hello they are going to let us win this easily. Two free kicks and a fifty later.....

Number 12 is barely indistinguishable as well.

The AI artwork is a little wonky but I get the gist.

Re the '50', I agree with you all (apologies for not quoting you all individually). I've always assumed it came partly from the measurement reference provided the 50m square and 50m arcs (so it'd be nice, btw, if the umpires used these, consistently and accurately!) So a reference convenience would be retained with 'half 50' - 25m.

15m provided a gain of a minimum markable kick; the 50m change took it all the way to a 'full' kick. I like the idea that a 'middling' penalty would disrupt the set-ups.

Re Saturday's game (surely this has been jumped on already, so apologies) I loved our forwards getting the job done, tradesman-like. You know who I mean;

Fritta and Turner?

Oops. Embarrassing. Someone really has. My deepest apologies, now, @Fritta and Turner

aw schucks, thats ok, no apologies required.  I thought we were good at grinding down the opposition and were able to manufacture forward opportunities to construct a winning score as specified in our game plan.

You are only as good as your next game,   can they do it again,  then of course  it gets easier and easier,  ??

but if we cannot beat these ones in front of our faces we do not deserve the finals slot.

very similar to 1987  now that was a run to the finals    Can we do it    Yes we can   thanks Barack

At least Buckenara isn’t playing, I still watch replays of that preliminary final and cringe at the last 10 minutes with our misses and the coast to coast kick out. I’m still not convinced Grinter infringed Buckenara.

That free kick to Turner when he kicked Drapers head is one of the worst calls i’ve ever seen

Please scrap the sliding rule AFL! Brought in off a single injury. horrible rule

I’ve had a dislocated patella and almost complete tear of my MCL from someone sliding in below the knee. Injuries are common from that action. It’s a good rule.

I hear ya. If the rule was adjudicated correctly I see the merit.  However it is generally just given when a bloke is stationary on the ground and makes any contact with an opponent.  In this case getting his head kicked off

So we're still making excuses for Petty's performance (selection) because

A) lack of preseason/injuries

B) he's playing out of position

It's not all on him, I get it, it's as much on team selection that causes him to either play unfit or play in a position where he's ineffective.

But we can't rely on these issues when analysing performance. If you're not fit or in position where you need to play, then let's call it out.

He was monstered by Draper and not much more effective in the forward line v Mackay.

Out muscled, out bodies, out worked across the ground.

I'd write this season off for Petty, he has shown he can play and given a full preseason next year he will show a lot of the doubters up. He's better than this.

I was behind the Demon goals in that last quarter and it seemed like a foregone tragedy or stage play that they would get the goal. As soon as we mucked it up down our end, It all seemed to happen in slow motion and I just knew we had lost it.

From memory we did have our chances in that last quarter,

It's ok to win and still be critical.

That's what successful clubs do. Teams like the c*ts and h*wks didn't create premiership dynasties by sitting on their laurels and not being critical about performance.

That's all I'm doing and that's all I suggest you do.

Soak up the win by all means, but always look for areas for improvement.

Enough already, you have made your point and I think everyone on here knows you aren't a big HP fan, ok, we got it.

Did you watch the game or just the parts that HP was involved in, how can you enjoy a win when you only look at one aspect of it?

Dyson Heppell first they stripped him of the captaincy, now he's been ejected without a parachute. Ground zero can't come quick enough.

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
