Heeney just cost hisself a brownlow

If he doesn’t get suspended for that then I don’t understand. He swung his fist back and hit a player in the head off the ball, which caused him to bleed and leave the ground.

That’s a minimum week easily.

Will get off on the Cripps rule.

11.16 and losing by 2 points. Who do Sydney think they are, that’s Melbourne-like 😂

Big result at Docklands with the Saints upsetting the Swans

Meanwhile, the Crows who are 8 points down have all the momentum against the Lions at the Gabba in the 3rd.

It's OK they have nth at home next week. I have a feeling they'll take losing their last 2 games out on them.

I feel like this was a half truth…I’m disappointed in you, DJ. You got my hopes up.

Is it true that Hogan wanted to be traded back to Melbourne after the 2020 season, but Goodwin said No?

Anyone could have had him in 2020. He was traded for pick 54.

Where it is better to say we missed was at the end of 2022.

Hogan was given a one year extension in 2021 so was out of contract as the year's end approached. His 2021 form was reasonable but he had injuries (18 goals from 8 games). In August 2022 GWS gave him a two year extension.

I suspect that had we offered him 3 years he would have joined us

Brisbane umpiring is the new Perth umpiring.

And the Brivagas umpiring was the ol' Swans umpiring.

I really dislike the Lions. They will do sweet FA in finals if they make it.

They really are insufferable. Such a collection of punchable heads.
They are the Port of Queensland. Forever doing nothing in finals.

And their fans are clueless morons. That bumpkin song they sing along to.

Feel for Logan McDonald.  Last week he missed the shot and today he wanted to redeem himself and missed again

Yeah. Sort of. But also Sydney supporters have been so arrogant this year. Seeing them start, ever so slightly, to wobble is delightful.

And a reminder - you don’t win flags in June.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds.
This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?
