Obviously would be of interest.

Takes a steady flow of contested marks and doesn't go missing from games too much. Seems to be incrementally getting better at providing forward pressure.

Probably his most impressive stat is score involvements which is not perfectly consistent but sometimes huge. He has even had a game with more score involvements than effective disposals, which is fun.

I'd still be prioritising Lukosious, but you have stick your finger in every hole these days.

Is he going to be better than Rooy in a year or two? We need a ready made recruit for forward strength especially if we lose Petty.

It’s a pity but we should have gone after say Tex at least 2/3 years ago but also have not had BBB or Tmac for hardly any consistent period fully fit either.

Perhsps we should bite the bullet now and swap Tmac and Harry to see if that keeps the defence strong and provides a bigger bodied target up forward along with Fritta  plus youngsters   and crumbers able to feed of him at times.

Landsberger's unlocked the secret!

Players go to the club they supported as kids.

Why didn't we think of that?!

Of course, Tracc will be off to the Pies then, too, any day now...

Nope. He’s been in the system longer than JVR and is only marginally in front. I maintain Sydneys forward line is not that good. It’s their ball movement and method which maximises their potential that is the diff. Logan is serviceable but won’t be much of an upgrade on Mihochek

This is not a dig at you LG, he’s averaging 1 contested mark per game this year. I heard the commentators mention it last weekend. Is that a good number?
For comparison Petty is at 1.3 a game.

Always a hard call with KPF as they mature later than other positions. Has he hit his maximum output or does he have upside?

Personally, I feel we've somewhat missed the boat in terms of acquiring a young established key forward. JvR is locked best 22 and Jefferson is showing significant promise and will be demanding games from as early as next year. Perhaps an older stop gap is required until Jefferson establishes himself in the team on a consistent basis.

Edit: unless we see JvR as a permanent fwd/ruck chop out and put two key forwards next to him. Not my first preference for JvR but could happen.

I think given JVR has missed a couple of games, then he's the first.

Also, MFC or MFC player always comes before another team or player in my book

It’s a reference to the story called The Hole In The Dike

edit: just realised this probably brings up more questions than answers. 🤣

The story is about Hans, a little Dutch boy who plugs a hole in the dike (dam) to stop the leaking of the town’s water supply. I can’t remember the rest of it but it has a moral to it.

What about Gawny as a Full time (mostly) fwd. Let him wind down a bit and we can make him last longer . Eventually Gawny will need to be "nursed"  (ala Hawkins)

We could then chase a Ruckman ?

That was the plan with Grundy, Gawn didn't want to play long minutes in the fwd line.

...plus he's an average forward at best.

The Hun and Fox Footy are full time recruiters for Collingwood, Essendon and Geelong.

Moral of the story; The little boy saves the village from a flood but nobody ever comes to help him and he dies with his finger still in the hole. All that time the village thought he was a naughty boy who had run off, and they only realised he was a hero when it was too late.

And that is why Belgium is Catholic.

That's not true at all.  He was happy playing a lot of minutes in the FWD line in order to make the team better.

He was on the front foot willing to sacrifice his game to try and make the team better as its nearly impossible to jag a high quality key forward so he/we tried something different.  Its really very selfless

This is definitely true and the reason he didn't play long minutes

Or wasn't effective enough, i personally reckon we didn't explore it enough after Gawn's knee injury.

Is Grundy available

Not my figures I think JVR is on the left.

BTW Logan is at least a year older than Rooy and if the table provided is correct in Rooy on LH side they are about equal if Logan is one year ahead.

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
