Yes it is a curious state of affairs samcantstandya and very unusual to boycott a Premium AFL Event, nothing coming from the club.

Perhaps we are [censored]’d off because of the Brayshaw compensation and the father/son tweaks that favour the AFL’s great northern hope teams!

Perhaps the invite got lost in the post.

Perhaps we weren't sent one.

Completely embarrassing…an absolute grub who never faced the scrutiny the deserved…the Collingwood PR machine at it again…it’s incredible…the more this continues, the less I like the sport of Australian Rules Football…I can’t believe I’ve finally reached that point

So if this is indeed to make a stand. Will anybody actually notice? And if they do will the media machine spin for us or against.

What can we realistically do in this situation to influence? We are not a powerhouse club. Collingwood have the power of the press, supporters , radio,  commercial appeal. I don’t think we have any of that.

CORRECT, we are irrelevant

I started watching the stream on Kayo and I now think that the club made a very good choice not to attend. Serious risk of death by boredom and a thousand cuts of cliches.

Utterly soporific.

Agree on the grub Swan getting his love in when he he a terrible human on many levels. But MFC not having a representative at the hall of fame event is a bad look and poor form IMHO

If they want to make a statement without copping a fine, it’s within their right. But I don’t think anyone will care.

“Swan is a terrible human, they’ve a thug who put one of our players out of the game with brain damage and then made it seem like the victim’s fault and are penalising us for it so thanks no thanks we’re not AFL flunkies”

So arguably the greatest player ever to have played the game will never be inducted due to some off field issues yet there's an exception for filth players with similar past discretions?

If that is the case then get ready for DeGoey to be fast tracked in record time by HQ & their marketing team.

INCORRECT, we are the oldest professional football club in the world.

168 years old.

And we'll be around for another 168 years - long after we are all forgotten.

A proud club, with a proud history, with players who have given their all, even in the many barren years.

A proud club that deserves respect- least of all from supposed supporters.

I've had it up to here with posters on this forum taking every opportunity to slag off the mighty dees.

Who gives  fat rats clacker about this.. Really?

I guess the main point of interest is to see that Ricky Nixon still has some pull at 'AFL House'.

When you know where the bodies are buried, who cares how 'disgraced' you are?

Maybe Covid is going through the club. Maybe that could explain our poor performances. Maybe. Just maybe.

Possibly. It could also be the reason no one is representing the MFC at the Hall of Fame event. Who knows. But that would deprive many on here of yet another opportunity to disparage our club so let’s ignore the possibility.

Is Covid still a thing? I thought it ended in 2022.

A not too subtle message to the AFL that the appointment of Gillon to head up Tabcorp has not gone unnoticed. Dees!

In addition to being the oldest professional football club...

We codified the laws of the game, we were a foundation vfa and vfl club, we lost players in both world wars, we originated the father son rule, we were first to recruit irish players and we established the womens game and were a foundation aflw club. Also, we are the only team to have won a mens afl premiership and women's premiership with all 18 team competing.

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.

Just a game and percentage outside the Top 8, the Demons return to Melbourne to face the Sydney Swans at the MCG, with a golden opportunity to build on the momentum from toppling the reigning premiers on their own turf. Who comes in, and who makes way?
