What's the point? Who would we get?

Someone. Anyone.

Would have loved it to be Yze.

Let’s not get too excited about that game. Geelong have the worst rucks by far in the league and opposition rucks dominate them every game. Not playing Grundy in the finals was a huge mistake but moving him (and his contract) on was the right thing to do. Gawn is not a forward and neither is Grundy. They were no good together.

This is where i disagree.
You make the situation WORK, you do not give up after 5-6 games.
that proved to me that our Coach was out of his depth

Then why go and chase him? Myself and many more on here raised concerns around this strategy when it first came out that we were chasing Grundy.

It made zero sense at the time even with Jackson leaving. Jackson could at least pinch hit up forward where as Grundy never played there in his life.

Tim Lamb record of late has been abysmal of late and he needs to come under intense scrutiny for botching our list management of late.

At this point even an interim coach just for the rest of the season would be better, we are kidding ourselves if we think we can make the 8 or seriously contend this season. Then work out the replacement, maybe one of the assistant coaches in Geelong or Sydney?

That's what I said last year, there should've been a transition plan from Goodwin to Yze. It seems now that it should've happened rather sooner than later.

This will go down as a tragic mistake on the part of our board. Yze had a lot to offer and some fresh eyes that are already close with the playing group would be perfect right now.

Goody deserves to stay.

We would have won another flag last year except for injuries and Maynard. Ok the Laurie sub was a stupid selection but it happens.

We need to sack our forward coach.

Make some much better recruitment calls and start dropping players who don't perform.

If they don't put in, they don't play...simple.

Hi Petty

We have had exactly the same problem for 3years. But nothing has been fixed.
How is that not on The Head Coach?

It’s time for a Fresh Start whilst some of our list is still A Grade

100% agree with your opening comment, but fear it's become a boys club.

Tim Lamb has to be the first out the door. Horrible record of trading for players past their prime. Goodwin won't get sacked, and neither should he, but some of his buddies have to go. That's you Greg Stafford. And question marks on our midfield coach McQualter.

Sack Goodwin he is the problem! Off you go demonlanders

To be fair, Collingwood's system enables them to be a bit plug and play, but they were lucky our goalkicking was so abhorrent today.

Our goal kicking is / has been remarkably abhorrent in big games more often than not, for a couple of years. Not sure they were that lucky.

We have made a lot of poor recruiting decisions in targeting needs rather than targeting fast and skilful players.

And decisions to give extension to fringe players so early in the season has been stupid.

The decision by us to go after Grundy and Grundy to choose us is one of the most baffling list management decisions made for a long time.

Agree on all your points. Especially Tim Lamb. Extending Adams, Laurie etc recently for two years is very questionable. They seem incapable of moving on players who are not showing much.

We needed fast skillful players

The game has moved passed our tough inside game as its a more free flowing outside speed game by foot.

We are not built for it and its why we need to build towards it for our next tilt and draft out our trade currency.

People working behind the Scenes and our Football Department have let us all down in a huge way.
you do not come back from this, the damage (whatever it is) has been done.

We have been deceived.

Look at Grundy last night.
To not play him last year was sheer arrogance and stupidity

This Club is like a Ferrari that hasn’t had a Service in 3 years.
We need new people running the place. Top to Bottom

The List can be salvaged but only with tough calls

@drysdale demonWhy are you laughing?

Is it Blind Faith….

Funny Yze wanted more speed on the ball and that's what he is doing at Richmond, the problem is we don't have a midfield with speed or ball skills overall.

Good in hindsight, but it would have been seen as madness to get rid of Goodwin after a flag and 2 subsequent top 4 finishes for an untried Yze

It would have been a brave move. Sadly that ship has sailed

3 years with the same Forward problems. Today was exactly the same, when is enough…?

Would like to see Dean Cox considered to replace Goodwin - has done a couple of years learning from Longmire and the Swans system which the best in the business. Change is definitely needed.

I’m spewing we didn’t keep Yze, he should be coaching Melbourne, he’s a bloody good coach, he will do well at Richmond, we’ve got Goodwin and he will ruin this club

Goodwin’s presser was jaw dropping. I can’t believe he tried to spin this loss in a positive light. As an isolated result maybe but in the context of terrible losses to West Coast and Freo it was time for some honesty and to show some passion. All we got were platitudes and cliches. Very disillusioning.

I reckon our forward problems have been spoken about since 2019 at least. Unless I’m misremembering

Well, Yze is spoken for.  Please name who you want and who is available.

after 3 or 4 very poor games.  I thought this game would show us where we were as a club.
We did not have to win.

sadly we know exactly where we sit,

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
