Improvements in form will get us over the line on Saturday night, not changes in personnel.  Let’s see what happens!

I am utterly amazed that Petty continues to get gifted games.

Baffled.

Another single game for Laurie then straight out. Feel for the kid, never gets a run at it.

Still, excited for Tholstrup and Brown.

Goodwin’s explained Tomlinson - Collingwood had a small forward line so we decided to go smaller in our backline.

I wonder what players working hard at Casey think of Petty constantly getting games with zero output.

Would imagine it’s a bit demoralising

I reckon he’s only getting games because we are petrified he will request a trade if we drop him and we see him as our long term full back. If he leaves at the end of season anyways will be a kick to the teeth.

That was a roaring success

I think we're playing him because no matter how bad he is at AFL level, having him in the VFL will bring his trade level down even more.

I understand the Petty hate but unless Jeffo is ready, who can come in? BB isn’t the answer.

Can only imagine this is the week Petty finally returns to defence and T Mac is shifted forward.

Nobody in their right mind would keep playing a key forward who’s averaged 1.6 marks and 0.4 goals a games in a 5 week stretch.

There’s no one to bring in for Petty. He’s hardly on his lonesome for having a poor 5 weeks. Oliver could get dropped

K Brown, another baffling selection to go with a heap of others this year. I like the kid, but seriously.

What is the sunk cost fallacy? The Sunk Cost Fallacy is our tendency to follow through on something that we’ve already invested heavily in (be it time, money, effort, emotional energy, etc.), even when giving up is clearly a better idea

Maybe the investment will work out in the long term. I wouldve buckled and pushed him back a while ago.

LDU passed his fitness test so he’ll play unfortunately.

If we can’t beat North even with LDU playing then it really is season over

Petty back and TMAC forward is the only way that Petty is still alive.. maybe supports Tomlinson inclusion with Turner as sub perhaps.

Not saying Laurie is the answer, but it’s stiff that he gets so little opportunity to cement a place in the side, when you have players such as our regular small forward that’s not kicking goals nor laying tackles (0 goals and 4 tackles in the last 2 games), but appears irreplaceable.

Have to think that that Tholstrup likely sub based on who is named on the bench?  We don't typically play first gamers as sub.

Almost hope Turner is the sub, but only cos I can't quite see how he fits in the team with Petty, TMac and Tomlinson.

As the armchair selector, I wonder whether we could have selected another running player or small? Cos lets be honest we have named 5 tall defenders.

Woewodin, Laurie, McAdam, Billings or Sestans seem to have allowed for better balance, and Goody would feel comfortable subbing Woewodin or Laurie... 🙄

I guess, at least pup plays with effort and gives his all. Surprised me at the start of the year in that praccie match.

I'm trying to get my around my head around the fact AMW isn't an emergency. This game against North Melbourne shapes probably our most important game of the year and we must win with no excuses.

I went to AFLW training this afternoon at Gosches and Jack Viney was there assisting the midfielders with set plays  with ruck contests and positioning. Also Jack Viney's brother Max was there also providing guidance with grabbling techniques with the AFLW players. Max is a Jiu Jitsu instructor.

Remember last year, we refused to play Grundy in the seniors, and he was playing exclusively for a stretch in the VFL as a forward. Didn't work then, but perhaps Petty and Turner might 🤔

... there wasn't a tongue in cheek emoji sorry.

Dazzle I’m with you. Goodwin seems to think his ‘method’ will work eventually.

We’ve been waiting 3 years, it’s turning me off football TBH. He and/or the match committee must be bloody stubborn.

Why not play Petty in the backline into some sort of form that may lift his currency up if he chooses to leave.

People say who do we put in? Well 2 or 3 touches ain’t helping, so why keep flogging a dead horse. Roll the dice on somebody for gods sake.

You watch if we win, Goodwin will be all smiles, unfortunately just painting over the cracks IMO.

That’s 8 players with under 50 games experience, and Bowey at 53, with 10 aged under 23 at the start of this month playing for us

Pretty young and inexperienced

Oh cmon you’re comparing Petty to Oliver!!!!

Oliver is a least having a crack & has a few more credits over the years

Get real!

Tholstrup will almost certainly be sub which is disappointing.

A few years ago, the Melbourne Football Club produced a documentary about the decade in which it rose from its dystopic purgatory of regular thrashings to the euphoria of a premiership victory. That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.
