AFL.com.au - Clayton Oliver records 30 disposals for the first time since Round 2. His match tonight included 31 disposals at 81 efficiency, four clearances, 17 contested possessions, eight score involvements, 32 pressure acts and four inside 50's.

Epic 2nd half. Proved me wrong. We need him to do that to ale coaches rethink the Trac tag.

What a wonderful wonderful night for the club. To all the naysayers last week, go gives yourselves a long hard look in the mirror. We're going deep into September this year.

I apologise for the doom and gloom in the match thread, I just can't help it. Everything about this game pointed to another heartbreaking, self inflicted loss.

Thank god it wasn't.

Petty the MVP.

What happens in the match thread, stays in the match thread.

How good is Fritter’s body work. Very few in the league with his smarts as to where to be, but also how to use his body which is particularly significant given he’s not a big guy. Amazing forward. Given credit for sure, but largely unheralded.

Take a bow tmac, I had you in a retirement home and you just destroyed the "best" player in the comp.

He looks.thin but is hard as nails, he's got a very stiff body!

The boys apart from some goal kicking executed a great game plan to beat the cats. Kudos to the boys and Goody

Great win. Goal kicking, needs finishing attention now, as at least four resultant behinds were due to the kick being taken too close to the man-on-the-mark. Deliver a little further back boys, kicking through the ball with a well-balanced run-up prior to delivery - otherwise, you will (and do) miss certainties.

How bloody good!!!

That Fritsch goal was insane. One of the best I’ve seen to seal a match in years!

What a win. No ceiling on what can be achieved with this squad

I want all the "Geelong will give us a reality check" to go hide in the closet for a week...woooohoooooooo

We gave the Cats the old UNO reality check reverse card.

But we still need to improve the kicking, it was the reason we lost against Collingwood and Carlton in the finals.

But overall a great performance.

Big pump up.

I don't often delight in other people's misery but beating a Scott brother always feels good.

He will be whinging about something.

Been a while since I enjoyed a win that much.

Was sitting with a mate in GA M2 and gave it to the usual Geelong peanuts who stir the pot behind there.

Enormously entertaining.

Had a couple frothing at the mouth.  Anyone else there?

Go you [censored] Demons!!! What a great win, Petty, May, Lever, Max all huge.

Spewing I wasn't there, the crowd seemed electric in the last 10 minutes

Fritta!!!!

When the moment might have calls for letting the ball go out of bounds, great players step up and do the amazing.

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.

  • NON-MFC: Round 09

Round 9 kicks off out west with the Dockers hosting a Collingwood side resting several stars. Fremantle need to make a statement on their home deck after some disappointing form on the road, while the Magpies will be keen to maintain their Top 2 position. Friday night sees a must-win clash between two sides desperate to stay in touch with the eight. St Kilda have shown glimpses while Carlton are clinging to relevance after a flat start to the season. Saturday’s twilight game at Marvel pits the Bombers against a struggling Sydney outfit. Essendon can’t afford another close match against a lower-ranked side, while the Swans risk sliding down the ladder even further. Up in Darwin, the fourth-placed Suns will look to extend their stay in the top four. The Bulldogs have hit their stride with three big wins on the trot and will be very keen to consolidate on their momentum. The always fiery Showdown looms as pivotal for both clubs. Adelaide are eyeing a spot in the Top 4 with a win, while Port Adelaide’s season could slip away if they drop another game and fall further behind the pack. Sunday begins with a yawn fest between Richmond and West Coast. The Tigers need to bank the points to stay clear of the bottom two, while the Eagles are still chasing their first win of the year. The Giants face one of the league’s toughest road trips as they travel to GMHBA Stadium to face the Cats. With GWS at risk of a third straight loss, Geelong will be eager to consolidate their position inside the eight and start their climb up the ladder. The round wraps up with the top-of-the-table Lions heading to Ninja Stadium to take on the second-last Roos. The Lions should easily take care of the struggling Roos who might be powerless against the best in the comp. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?
