It is such a great feeling now, going to any game knowing we have a good chance of winning. The Premiership in 2021 changed everything - I am generally much more relaxed about footy in general.

I can't see the Cats attack being as potent as it has the last 7 rounds. Our defensive organisation rarely allows teams more than 80 points, often under 65.

Sparrow to run with Myers.

Petty to run with Stewart.

Kozzie, Chandler & Fritsch will be our major goal scorers.

Geelong's midfield looks under-powered with Dangerfield injured and Parfitt and O'Connor "managed". I see both of them are named as emergencies, I expect at least one to be a late in.

Seem to be managing their players well like they did in their 2022 flag year.

Need a collective lift in the midfield and by Petty. Negating Stewart and Cameron will go a long way to beating them.

Personally, Cats are one of my most disliked teams so all the sweeter beating them, so get it done Dees 😉😁 Gawn, drop another 5 on them please 🙏

How good is to have a game vs Geelong NOT in Geelong (first time since R4, 2021)

I'm interested to see how they play Petracca today. O'Connor not being named would suggest they aren't going to have anyone sit on him, but after the relative success Brisbane & Richmond had I'm curious to see what they have up their sleeve. Surely they wont let him run around doing as he pleases?

But what will be our excuse then?

Ours, not the teams.

This could be either that or the game that drives the stake into the Demons heart.

Than next week..

Almost 50 /50..losing to every genuine contender.

Yeah it's a tough draw and a big fortnight.

If you want to know how the game will go, i’ll fill you in:

we will play tough strong footy. blood sweat and tears will slowly move the ball fwd through stoppages and eventually get a goal after 10 minutes of pressure

Cats will then get a goal on the rebound in 15 seconds

and repeat

🖐️🖐️🖐️RED AND BLUE HEART OF SATURDAY NIGHT

Rather than ski we're all here at the 'G.
.
You can have all your Hawk'ins and keep your JC squawk'ins

Meanwhile we'll just let the ball do all the tawk'ins.

Tracc and Jack will smack the Cats around the packs.

Take it to the Max, centre, forward or backs, Gawn is giving them stax

And Clarry's ridiculous parry even delighted Prince Harry.

JVR leaps like a demented Roo escaped from the zoo.

Fritter's outrageous banana kick is really a charmer.

Kozzie will o' the wisp kicks true thru the sticks for another six.

Mr Ed it is said on a another thread is at his best without the rest.

Disco's red and blue brisk is ever so slightly risque.

Oops! Rick and May's domestic has just gone public.

If it's more about loyalty rather royalty, Caleb's already a celeb.

Rivers dismissive shimmy will gives them the shivers.

Listen hear Bud we'll back in Judd and the boys

to beat the rest of the crud from the Kardinia Park mud.

I have thought long and hard about this game. I will be there tonight, only a good first quarter will see us get the chocolates. Even then I don't see our forward line kicking a winning score. Sadly cats by 3 goals.

On last week’s first half perhaps, not on the second half.

We’ve come a long way in the last 10 years when we can label a 43 point win as insipid.

The cats have managed to get rid of their older players and have young group coming through.  Getting Henry from the pies was a good get.

i do not think we will win, 3 goals I think,

what I want to see is us making changes to combat their strengths and trying positional moves to create run for us chaos for them.

tonights game means little in the season results. Get some severe learnings.
and apply it correctly and with heat in September. Don’t give away too much game plan tonight.

i would like a good hard start in the first quarter!

Go Dee’s

Want to see a statement tonight, Have had plenty of of time to look at them last week , get the matchups right, set the press. 2022 too banged up, 2023 too many forwards injured, Swans game too hot Brisbane game too tired, Tigers first half terrible. No more reasons/excuses get the job done Demons.

Well this is a big one.

I'm not sure how good the Scats are but ... neither am I certain how good we are. Consequently, your good old Uncle Bitter is sallying forth from The Manor tonight to find an answer.

I believe we will win this game on the strength of our superb defenders.

Dawkins has been quiet of late and , you would think due to fire, but if he escapes any flailing elbows, May will be too good.

There's been speculation about who takes care of Cameron but I reckon it has to be Tmac. He has the tank to run with him and the body work and nous to counter Cameron's expected advantage in agility.

Our mids will win ( Danger out helps ) and surely Viney is due for a big bone crunching impact game.

Forwards ??? Hopefully Petty finally finds some form and some goals. I'm not sure about Disco yet but if he can snag a couple in this setting we will know a lot more. Hopefully one, or ideally both of the above get into the game early as it will take some heat off Fritta and allow him to do what he does best.  He is our key forward.

Kozzie, as always, will have the defenders on edge and a couple of goals from the mids will also be welcome.

PS. Rohan is a prime goose.

Dees by 19 !!!

( A red and blue leather party follows at Romsey )

Two words: replacement [censored] buses. Yep, it’s our train line’s lucky weekend. 🤬

Allow plenty of extra time and a truckload of patience, coz you’re gonna need it. Same for going home afterwards.

Heads up, @Rab D Nesbitt!

I’m not even slightly worried about tonight. We’ll kick ‘em into the middle of next week! My irrepressible confidence is partly attributed to Goody’s presser (5%) but largely because I’m delusional (95%).

GO YOU MIGHTY [censored] DEES!

Enjoy the game everyone. Would be amazing to take a big scalp but I'm more focused on the performance and how the gameplan stacks up more than the result today. It's an exciting time.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
