Way too early to say. Weddle would’ve been nice though

Exactly. Way too early to judge a young tall. No one else (below Jefferson) has done much either. Looks like a very weak draft early days.

You'd think with Ben Brown out of the AFL you'd give him a proper rest and let Jefferson try and own the forward 50, instead its the land of the lanky talls with Schache, Brown and Jefferson all running to the same spot.

Totally agree. When people see the stats they’re very quick to write off Jefferson. Not sure he’s got the best shot at it being surrounded by the giants in that line. Not to mention Joel Smith was in there for a lot of it last year too at Casey.

Lachy Hunter 23 disposals, 6 marks, 6 tackles, 3 clearances... 11th for both teams in fantasy points... We'd be rapt if Kynan or Koltyn had those stats!

Stats look good on paper. Tomlinson had 37 and was average. Had 4 kicked on him. Kicked out of full back and dump kicked at least 50% of his possessions. Hunter was caught doing too much. A few nice things but he shouldn’t be anywhere near the 22.

I shouldn’t post this but sheesh, pick 15!!

Not all talls come through and dominate straight away. Some take time, hence Melbourne extending his contract to 26’ so early because they were and are aware of that.

That’s pretty good seeing that it is only Hunters second hit out for the year, so building nicely and Tom Fullarton is doing himself no harm as well.

Jefferson’s intensity is pathetic. No defensive focus in his game and zero ground game. He won’t make it.

No but they show something, I like hunger but I’d settle for an appetite with pick 15.

Not bad but it was the lack of quality of a few too many disposals for mine plus he is still a fare way off his optimum fitness / strength me thinks.

Certainly not writing him off either.

Coming from a long way back and too early to judge his form solely on these last two matches.

Let's see how he fares over the next block of 3 to 5 eh.

I thought Hunter had no influence at all.

Our ball handling and disposal was garbage.

The Captain probably turned it over 10 times himself.

So many dropped marks and handballs.

BBB’s last two games in the AFL and VFL have been simply horrible. Unless he can turn that around, I fear he may be very close to retirement.

A couple of positives, while I don’t see Fullerton as a ruck, his game today was his best for Casey, he was very good. We need to develop his forward craft and then along with Verall we will have some depth up forward. Verall while not really extra tall, can ruck and has some serious talent. He actually is doing the things LJ did and with further development could be a beauty.

Sestan also is improving.

Poorly coached full stop.

but who is the coach if the match day co-ordinator has minimal input into game plan and selection.

The reality is that the result does not matter nearly as much as the individual output. Southport for example is a strong team in this competition but few if any of its players have a chance at making an AFL team

So the Casey coach cannot make moves then or change how they play during the game interesting....

Only within the context of Goodwin's overall plan. He would be allowed to tinker but the game plan and the playing method is pre-set.

This year we chip it around and take on the corridor occasionally. Last two years it has been mainly a boundary game. It mirrors the senior team.

It was worse when the VFL team was unaligned such as we had with Sandringham. Our players were often played in positions or in ways that ran contrary to the needs of the MFC AFL team. Juice Newton and Sauntner was the classic dilemna

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
