Agree. Goody loves his structures and stability but I feel we could have been better prepared for the last two septembers with better fatigue management. I was staggered when Gawn was on the plane to Perth to play WC (for one example)

I’ve heard some stupid reasons and this is one of the most. 

 

I seem to recall that most debuting players had two consecutive games before being omitted (unless they stayed in the side of course). Can anyone recall what the more strike rate is for our more recent debutants such as Woewodin? I'm not suggesting it's right or wrong...but if it is something the Match Committee or coach prefer, perhaps Tholstrup gets another game this week.

I dont understand how you can say that with such confidence.

What are you basing that assessment on?

How clubs and or local footy teams have historically managed players, your vibes, applying some sort of assumed 'common sense'?

No disrespect, but you (nor me or 99.9% of fans) don't know what bb's individual high performance plan is.

It's a science that is planned to the second.

Perhaps the deloading bb would have experienced if they rested him after the Port game would have thrown out 1his program because it would have meant a 12 day break into the Lions game followed by the bye break.

Maybe they wanted to load him up and then give him a longer break than his teamates because of his degenerative knee issues.

Who knows?

And that's the point we don't.

What I would like is the footy media providing some education and analysis about team's high performance programs.

Team's high performance programs are one of the most critical determinative factors in terms of their performance and chances of success. Yet they are shrouded in mystery like some dark arts.

Take the pies.

Joey montagna said on first crack that there is talk their high performance program plan was to ease into the season (ie nmeaning they would not be in their optimal shape in the first few rounds) because of their late start to their preseason.

And there is evidence to support that idea.

They look like they have concrete in their boots for 5 rounds and then suddenly look like a million dollars in running over the top of port.

Of course that may not be the case. But wouldn't it be great if it was explored?

The formula this week is simple. 4 quarters of relentless pressure. I don’t care in’s and outs, the game against Lions was a shocker and huge knock on my confidence in this years potential. 

Was it an aberration or a sign of something more sinister? A win is non negotiable. It won’t tell us much given the extent of injuries to the Tigers, but it needs to a comprehensive performance with a minimum 6 goal+ win. A loss is almost incomprehensible but would all but likely end our hopes of a top 2 and put question marks on top 4 chances as well.

Woey the sub I would think!

Team pretty much as expected.

Will be great to have Kozzie back. Hoping for a small (or big!) bag from him and some midfield minutes and manic forward pressure. 

Great to see Turner, think he’s the goods. We have a good record with backmen turned forwards. He’s got the skills, just needs some luck with injury! This is a great opportunity for him. 

Ah and Laurie. The ‘potential’. I know he’s highly regarded but I haven’t seen it at this level. I hope I’m wrong because we could use someone of his purported description. Looks like he’ll be playing midfield time, so no better opportunity than tomorrow, against a depleted tigers side to start showing what he’s capable of. Would love for him to convert potential into performance.

We have a tough run after this game so I hope we really give it to the tigers and build some momentum and confidence after a really flat loss to the lions. 

I know Bbb has struggled but I was I was kind of hoping he may get another chance. He looked good there earlier and alas I fear he won't recapture that form. Also Petts seems a little undone and Jvr has struggled to impact up forward. My kingdom for a functioning forward line. At least we have Fritta.

I'm guessing it will be Laurie as the sub. Has he been performing at Casey?  

Good to see Turner in. I hope he gets a run.

Hopefully the team make a statement after that horrible Lions loss and we have a big win. On a fine night anything less than thirty points will be disappointing somewhat. But I feel on reflection that may be asking too much. Our mids have struggled too  Will Oliver be okay? This will be a very interesting game despite Tigers form and injuries.

I think Woey will play high half back and replace Salem. Turner forward and Laurie sub.

Tend to agree and if he is in starting 22 would want to produce BIG TIME um Woey Not the answer of a HBF either

We got smashed in the tackle count last week by a pathetic 29.

As soon as Laurie got 20 tackles in the VFL (the seniors had just a combined 53) he was always going to be in the frame for selection.

If was down to Tholstrupp or Laurie for the final spot, you’d probably be selecting the latter based on the former’s debut last week.

Has Turner spent the summer training forward or if he plays forward is he being picked off 40 mins at Casey last week?
 

I am a bit surprised they went Turner over Hore unless it is that Turner is replacing BBB rather than playing back.

I read that the Kolt didn't train. Is he injured? Or dropped?

Doesn't do the kid's confidence much good if he's dropped after 1 game
