So we are implementing a new game plan, haven't quite got it going yet but are 4-1? Sounds great to me.

I don’t disagree with Montagna, but the upside that isn’t mentioned by him (and you point out) we have won despite not having our usual dominance around the ball. If we get that part to click, how good will we be?

I'm accepting that we will never be as good (in the context of what it was) - as this. ever again.

School holidays and decent enough weather will help. I reckon we will push 45k

Highest home crowd V lions since 97 was last years late season comeback at 38030K.

Will be doing well to get 35k tonight

The best description I’ve heard of that period in footy (Melbourne from the Geelong game comeback before finals) was from a truck driver that I worked with who was a die hard Geelong fan.

He said that we played the most damaging footy he has ever seen and reckoned there would be very few periods of teams that would have beaten us. He likened us to Mitchell Johnson during the ashes in Australia. Absolutely devastating footy.

And for those looking for an MFC weekend game in Melbourne, sorry none available in the month of April.

A friend keeps mentioning that as a MCC member they get to watch multiple games each week.

There must be some disappointment, the same for AFL members of the MCG.

Adelaide, then 1 this week, had a look, 1 game next week (Sat 20th April, Pies v Port ). The Anzac round has plenty

Is it some discouragement though.

They'll catch up, but gee they miss plenty early in the season!

Daniel Hoyne also called this out and Goody alluded to it yesterday saying how there’s still much to be improved on in our game. We’ve been losing inside 50, clearances, contested possession and we're only a middle of the road side at defending ball movement. How are we 4-1? Because we’ve been really efficient. If we can get improvement in those areas and maintain efficiency, we’ll go to a whole new level.

Still rumours going around about Clayton missing because of his hand. We need him especially with the lions midfield. Just get him through & next week he can have a break

billings kicks two of his misses and Petty one of his and last week's win was by 32. Not bad

Kozzie will be badly missed if for no other reason than he commands a good defender.

Cameron's form this year has been woeful. Last week watching their game I asked at half time if he was out injured as I had not heard him called. Turned out he had been playing but had one possession to that time.

Definitely need to get this done and then settle the line up over the next five weeks or so until the mid year bye

As Bugs Bunny used to say...

Overture, curtain, lights
This is it, we'll hit the heights
Tonight what heights we'll hit.
On with the show, this is it.

Billings must kick goals tonight. It’s why he was recruited

with Kozzie out, he just has to step up

I hope that isn't why we recruited him as he kicks 2 goals every 3 games (Clarrie kicks a goal every 3 games where as Trac is trending towards a goal a game)

Don’t get pedantic. We are a man down

Billings needs to be an important player tonight

Don't you start. 😁

Just saying Billings isnt a goal kicker ( though didnt he kick 4? against us early in his career?)

Chin on fire, so to speak, and Kolt to score is what i would like.

Looking for big games from Petty, Billings and Salem tonight........

Go Kolt....!

Uhm thanks… I think 🤔

I’d need a 12-step program to 86 Demonland for good. 😂

At times DL is like a Krispy Kreme donut: I know it’s not good for me, but [censored] if I can resist indulging 😜

So will Petty play fwd?

With BB JVR?

glad it’s dry

I've got alot of time for Leigh Montana and his analysis of teams and how they will match up. If only the networks could find other ex players who are articulate and can provide insights instead of the boof heads they bring in.

You would imagine so with May, Lever and T Mac in defence.

We still have smalls to contend with such as Cameron, McCarthy, Rayner and Bailey, so no need for Petty down back.

I think our forward line needs a maximum of 2 of JVR, BBB and Petty at the one time while the third player is either in the ruck (JVR) or on the bench.

Haven't much to add, reckon BBO nailed all the talking points

I think that BBB did nail all of the talking points ... and would love to see him show Daniher how it's all done as a player approaching a career sunset.

Nup if he’s not right don’t play him, he’s way more important than to worry about about a win tonight

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

It was bad enough that the Melbourne Football Club created yet another humiliating scenario inside its wretched season at Marvel Stadium last Sunday, but the final insult is that it has been commanded to return to the scene of the crime to inflict further punishment on its fans this week. Incidentally, if this match preview, of a game that promises to be one of the most unattractive fixtures in the history of the game, happens to cut out of your computer screen three quarters of the way through, it’s no coincidence. I’ll be mirroring the Demons’ lacklustre effort against St Kilda from last Sunday when they conceded the largest last quarter turnaround for victory in the history of the game.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.
