Really professional win v the Hawks.

Played a great team game. Didn't get put off by their faux toughness tactics

Let them over-possess the ball before we turned it over time and time again.

Smashed them in stoppages. Killed them with pressure. Covered some big holes in defence with ease.

Great camaraderie that we haven't seen since '21

They look like they have steely determination

I just finished watching the Replay.
The “Love Affair” with the Wizard was embarrassing.
Who is this nobody?

A nickname such as The “wizard” needs to be earned through extraordinary deeds on the Field.
To call this newbie the wizard was absolutely disrespectful to The Great Jeffrey Farmer, who was indeed a Wizard.

Dunstall pondered that Fritsch wanted number 31, after being drafted at pick 31. Then noted, it's odd because it is nit as though 31 is a popular number. Huddo jumped in to remind him that the number 31 is actually quite famous at Melbourne.

This isn’t true, anyways. Fritta wanted #35 since he and his dad wore that number throughout their time playing for Coldstream. #35 had already been given to HP so he took #31 which of course he’s happy with.

I love you like I love Brussel sprouts… rather unpalatable, but very good for me. 😅

Your comments keep people like me on their toes. Without folks like you the world would be unbalanced and boring. 😉

Multiple broken ribs and “minor” vertebrae damage. Not good.

I only know what was reported on Kayo. Three broken ribs and a fracture of a vertebra. They said he’ll definitely miss both Adelaide matches and “probably a couple more after that.”

I’ll be going to Gosch’s tomorrow so I’ll see what I can find out.

May back for Anzac Eve would be a great result if the injury is as severe as it sounds.

Currently 10th on our all time goalkicking ladder, should pass Yze soon and could get the Ox and Greg Wells this year too - I’m not as worried as some about defensive efforts, he knows what his job is

How is Norm Smith not on this "all time goal kicking ladder"?

Neither Watson nor Farmer gave themselves their nickname.

Similarly, both had that nickname before they were even drafted.

It's not the kid's fault.  The commentators, on the other hand ....

Very good point. Turns out I was in the modern stats side of AFL Tables that starts at 1965 - on the all-time all-time list Fritsch is down at 21. Rookie mistake by me..

Agreed. Did you hear the line about Kozzie? "He's been good the last 2 weeks after a quiet game against Sydney" He clearly didn't remember Kozzie was suspended for the Sydney clash. The rest of the commentary team fell silent after that line

Most commentators have no idea about football these days.

I suffered broken ribs about 13 years ago. Ouch!! I've never fully recovered.

Langdon took a season and a half to recover fully.

Same here, so painful. Took me about a month to be able to turn over in bed. Don't know how these players come back so quick

Better man than me. There was no internal laughter on my part! All outward!

He's getting dementia and forgets names of players regularly. Speaking of dementia, I am not sure he was captain when he left. I thought it was Ditterich to Robbie to Greg Healy to Lyon

Yes you’re right. I got my Healeys mixed up. However he did win a B&F and leading goalkicker for Melbourne and then more than one B&F for Sydney and a Brownlow for Sydney. And his brother was captain of Melbourne at one stage!

Nope, the padding is counted as the post.

thanks to those who commented. It seems the line is marked at the back of the padding, so no goal for Bennie.

Yep. So if the padding hasn't been attached properly and is dangling off the post by half a metre and the ball hits it then that would be hitting the post.

Stay tuned for this future controversy when it happens..

  • GAMEDAY: Geelong

It's Game Day, and reinforcements are finally arriving for the Demons—but will it be too little, too late? They're heading down the freeway to face a Cats side returning home to their fortress after two straight losses, desperate to reignite their own season. Can the Demons breathe new life into their campaign, or will it slip even further from their grasp?

  • PREVIEW: Geelong

"It's officially time for some alarm bells. I'm concerned about the lack of impact from their best players." This comment about one of the teams contesting this Friday night’s game came earlier in the week from a so-called expert radio commentator by the name of Kane Cornes. He wasn’t referring to the Melbourne Football Club but rather, this week’s home side, Geelong. The Cats are purring along with 1 win and 2 defeats and a percentage of 126.2 (courtesy of a big win at GMHBA Stadium in Round 1 vs Fremantle) which is one win more than Melbourne and double the percentage so I guess that, in the case of the Demons, its not just alarm bells, but distress signals. But don’t rely on me. Listen to Cornes who said this week about Melbourne:- “They can’t run. If you can’t run at speed and get out of the contest then you’re in trouble.

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit.
Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

For a brief period of time in the early afternoon of yesterday, the Casey Demons occupied top place on the Smithy’s VFL table. This was only made possible by virtue of the fact that the team was the only one in this crazy competition to have played twice and it’s 1½ wins gave it an unassailable lead on the other 20 teams, some of who had yet to play a game.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

In my all-time nightmare game, the team is so ill-disciplined that it concedes its first two goals with the courtesy of not one, but two, fifty metre penalties while opening its own scoring with four behinds in a row and losing a talented youngster with good decision-making skills and a lethal left foot kick, subbed off in the first quarter with what looks like a bad knee injury.
