Yes, it all about what team the offender and/or the innocent come from ... these are the eyes of the AFL. 

The AFL & various journalists drone on about certain incidents being a bad look that will deter parents from letting their kids play footy. Surely kicking, or attempting to kick, an oponent is a terrible look. And this isn’t the first time Sciliy has done something dodgy. I give up trying to make any sense of these decisions.

Fritsch can do it. A few years ago when Nick Haynes was at the height of his powers and broadly recognised as the foremost intercepting halfback in the game, Fritsch nullified him.....twice in the season. I don't share your passion for research @binman and CBF looking up which year it was

Someone moves 50cm on the mark after being told to stand - umpire awards a 50m penalty and the player kicks a goal and wins the grand final

Is the penalty commensurate with the act - of course not 

But that’s the rules 

You introduce shades of grey it invites all sorts of problems imo 

Kicking someone should not be part of our game imo irrespective of the level of force it’s just an ugly look

I totally agree but you’ve got to actually kick them not brush your foot against their leg. There’s no force to it and that’s got to be taken into account. Also Robbo thinks he should have been suspended so clearly it’s the correct decision.

Looks like a kick to me whether there was more or less force seems a bit irrelevant 

But we can have our differences on kicking being acceptable in our game - I’d prefer it was banned 

How about eye gouging? - not much force required to do some serious damage to someone’s eye - just a quick poke and wallah impaired vision for the rest of the game (if your lucky)

That is not footy.

I can kick a footy 1 metre or 40 metres and both are kicks.

You don’t kick people in footy and you don’t send a good message by condoning it.

Interestingly nearly all ex players in the media said it was a suspension.

I think it’s imperative that force be part of the decision. Yes kicking another player is a suspension for mine everyday of the week. I just don’t think Sicily kicked him. It’s barely a brush. It might not look good and I think the ex players are largely playing the macho line of “men don’t kick each other” As JBrown said “ Me Dad said only donkeys kick”

I think it was a soft kick, but it’s a terrible look. In soccer, if you kick out at an opponent like that, it’s usually a straight red card. Missing the following week. It looks like another loophole that the AFL will close next year

McAdams did this role against Lever last year pretty well. It wouldn't surprise me if that game either peaked our interest or solidified it. Especially once Melksham went down.

Yes assessing force is ok. 1 week for the kick and then add weeks for the degree of force, but to fine for a deliberate kick is pathetic.

We used to suspend for attempted striking, no force of impact if you miss, but it was an illegal act.

PS: Travis Boak said it was a bad look and struggled to defend the Tribunal decision. He said if it happened to a team mate he would be furious. Congrats on the 350 games Trav you are a great AFL player.

Whoever takes Sicily, I hope they run him up the ground and put body pressure on him. Keep him away from two of BBB, JVR or Fritter, who remain deeper. Sicily likes to peel off and intercept, make him accountable physically, he hates it. And kick to where he ain't 

Then Frosty will panic and turn it over

And explain to me what is the connection between me choosing not to watch sport sponsored by a government I consider abhorrent, and selling food to people who happen to live there (and don't get a vote)? The Saudi and UAE governments have direct and heinous responsibility for the humanitarian atrocities in Sudan and Yemen by enabling the RSF. Not much different to the Russian government for mine. I don't fly Emirates anymore and gave up a truckload of FF points/ Gold status as well.

Kicking it to where he ain't is probably the best solution - he'll do several things across the game that most would think were stupid, just to get back into the game, himself. I'd reckon Sparrow could do the job on him, as well; tougher, faster, more agile, whereas Fritta is a relative lightweight who - in the static mode - could be brushed aside most of the time. Frosty is a complete delight, no matter what colours he wears. At the same time, he will stuff up a few times in panic mode once Sicily is accounted for - our numbers of runners will be able to feed heartily from that type of scenario.

Kicking is distasteful to say the least , up there with eye gouging, spitting and squirrel gripping, should not be tolerated no matter what the force, bad look for the game.

Remember the olden days that a player was called "kicker " from the crowd as an insult if they had attempted or tried to kick someone.  That's where Robbo was rightly coming from. It is a low act. (Not Maynard standard mind you)

It was Sicilys intent.

The main issue the MRO have is they had to deem it as 'medium' impact to get a week suspension with the matrix they used.

I totally agree with the tribunal that it wasn't medium impact, which is why they need greater powers outside of this matrix for certain acts i.e. deliberate kicking, spitting, biting, eye gouging and I would even go as far as to say pinching could be thrown in this. It's all just BS acts on a footy field.
