Why are we not in the conversation for JUH?

Hawks, Pies, Tigers, Dons and Swans all circling. Why the heck aren't we throwing the kitchen sink in the ring. Petty is likely to leave. TMac and BBB on the brink of retirement. Gus forced out of the game. We will have plenty of room in the cap.

Go out and get Jamarra Ugle-Hagan!!!

The club needs to come out and clearly state it's intentions to the media on JUH before it's too late and we miss our chance to be in a news article.

Would be extremely disappointed if we weren't going hard for him.

Does he like it plonked on top of his head 25 times per game?

I think this bloke could be a bust, if given a long term big money guaranteed contract.

I wouldn't mortgage the club for him.

Every club will enquire. Its Round 1, much to go under the bridge before JUH signs anywhere. I think it's 50 50 him leaving simply because of the size of the offers that are going to come. Tiges are unlikely to be attractive, nor are Hawthorn or the Dons. I'd say if Sydney go hard he'll go there, after that we're as good a chance as any.

Let the media circus begin...

FWIW We do have a potentially more budget-friendly player in a similar mold in the making. One that so far is a hell of a lot more efficient in front of goal.

2023

Jamara - 35.35 (23 games)

JVR - 28.9 (20 games)

Now of course Jamara has been able to perform better by being released further up the field, terrific marking as a lead up forward creating lots of inside 50's etc. But JVR is a better and more willing tackler and performs well in the ruck so far.

What a dream it would be to have both!

First: Merge thread. I think there's be three of this exact thread already! :D

Second: JVR is better than JUH.

Third: Wouldn't mind having them both because I think they'd complement each other very well, but it would be awkward that to get him we would have to pay Ugle-Hagen double.

Fourth: Ugle-Hagan isn't the player our structure needs most urgently.

I still have PTSD (Post Templeton Stress Disorder) about that.  At least JUH still has two intact knees.

I hope the recruiting department is monitoring 'Land - cos there's no way they would have conceived of this brilliant and cunning plan.

I remember Kelvin Templeton coming across to Melbourne as a champion full forward.

I think his goals per game average at Melbourne were pretty similar to his career average. Just got him banged-up. When going, easily in the best 10 footballers I've seen play the game.

What happens if JUH is kept scoreless against us ? Are people still going to say let's get him .

If you wanna bring that kinda rational thinking to 'Land @COOLX, you better think again.

It will be a fun year for Doggy supporters with both English and JUH up for new contracts.

Eagles will throw the farm at English

Just now, leave it to deever said:

How long is Hogan contracted for?

Re-signed at end of 2022 for 23 and 24.

Fox reports that GWS are now offering him a 2 year extension

Who then Goffy ?

jezza Cameron OK?

The encumbent club has one big advantage in signing an existing player in their final contract year but it devalues as each week passes.

Injury !!

Do you take the 7 x $1M deal now or wait until season's end for the 6 x $1.25M but risk getting far less if you do an ACL.

Raises the question of whether players should be able to sign with new clubs during the season as happens in NRL

As Doja Cat says - get in to it Juh

Contrary to the media reports I am sure that we are looking at JUH and have made enquiries.

I’m wondering how high and long Landers’ would be prepared to go?

5 years, $1.25 million a year?

10 years, $1 million+ a year?

What figures would be the top end you’d be happy to go?

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Gather Round is here, kicking off with a Thursday night blockbuster as Adelaide faces Geelong. The Crows will be out for redemption after a controversial loss last week. Saturday starts with the Magpies taking on the Swans. Collingwood will be eager to cement their spot in the top eight, while Sydney is hot on their heels. In the Barossa Valley, two rising sides go head-to-head in a fascinating battle to prove they're the real deal. Later, Carlton and West Coast face off at Adelaide Oval, both desperate to notch their first win of the season. The action then shifts to Norwood, where the undefeated Lions will aim to keep their streak alive against the Bulldogs. Sunday’s games begin in the Barossa with Richmond up against Fremantle. In Norwood, the Saints will be looking to take a scalp when they come up against the Giants. The round concludes with a fiery rematch of last year's semi-final, as the Hawks seek revenge for their narrow loss to Port Adelaide. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
