Pit bulls aren't. Ugly inbred looking things. Trained to be aggressive by clueless owners that defend them online. Sounds familiar.

There are no bad dogs, only bad owners

And there are plenty of trash humans who are just that, trash. Just look at the news from today as further proof.

Understand that. Not really wanting to get in depth about dogs. The analogy is simply about Maynard being an aggressive dog, backed by a rabid trashy fanbase. I think it's apt. "Vermin" doesn't really cut it

Don’t let’s be rude to dogs by comparing them to Maynard. I quite like the sobriquet “skunkhead”. Do other Demonlanders think it’s not inappropriate? Or is it offensive to skunks?

I’ve owned Pit Bulls, Bull Terriers, French Bulldogs, and Tibetan Terriers. All loving, all very well behaved - because I trained them.

The most lethal? The Frenchies. The farts. Unbelievable.

I beg to differ. My Great Dane can clear a room.

Shaun Murphy (father of Nathan) just told me that the AFL have retired Nathan.

Another #4💩 (cannot use the name) victim?

I don’t mind Murphy so that’s sad for him but you know what, it’s poetic justice

Wonder how the playing group feels

He’s a grub and germ - wish someone would rain hellfire on him

What about the dogs?

I suppose the bright side is that with Murphy retiring, we should have a better chance of getting a favourable outcome with the cap issue now that Collingwood are likely seeking the same outcome.

im sad for him but not for Collingwood. Its very fitting for them to also lose a critical cog in their team.

His contract finishes this year

Oh the wailing media today makes me ill. We all feel sorry for Murphy but I don’t remember this level of angst when Gus was knocked out of his career

every media organisation talked about it for days

and eulogised him as a great player

we sure as hell miss him

so it turns out the filth did give murphy a new deal at the start of this year to last til the end of 2025

in the little paper jon ralph is saying:

They will honour that deal, but given the AFL has indicated it will set a precedent over Angus Brayshaw’s long-term contract it will not cost them in the salary cap.

The Pies and Demons will be able to exempt all or most of the salaries of those players going forward so Murphy’s retirement will in fact clear cap space for the Pies going forward.

Perfect. McLuggage anyone?

How can a club extend a players contract if he was under an extensive concussion measurement program?

Murphy had 1 year to run extend out to 3 years. Knowing he wouldn't play again would love to know what sort of a pay rise they gave him to strengthen their bargaining power for a comp pick.

Very negligent of Collingwood and the AFL for allowing this to happen effectively ticking off on it to futher their case for compensation.

Very suspicious activity allowed to happen and the AFL and turned a blind eye to it all.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
