One of the things that excites me most about Windsor is the level of physicality he shows for an 'outside' player.

On the weekend, I was sitting second level MCC, directly behind Windsor's wing. He streamed in at a centre bounce like a man possessed and just hit a contest so hard I couldn't believe it.

There were a few other contests throughout the day that made me think this kid arguably has the highest growth potential on our list due the fact that his body can't match his level of contest appetite yet. As soon as it does, we're going to have an unbelievably dangerous and damaging player on our hands as he'll be able to break tackles, stick tackles, out-body and break-away much easier. Would love to see him start at centre bounce eventually.

Unbelievably exciting.

If he can come home strong this season he could win the rising star.... I feel like they will probably give it to McKercher but I'm very happy with Caleb over him given he's playing a harder position. Halfback is the easiest place to get a kick these days.

i still think he's going to end up developing as an outside / inside player - judd is the high water mark

i LOVE how he hits the packs at pace and is still balanced when he kicks it, especially for goal; he just moves so beautifully around the ground

Ironically the one thing that probably separates Reid and Windsor is the game Reid had against Melbourne. Otherwise it has been relatively on par. Given where the Eagles are, i can see Reid dropping right off and Windsor just needs to chain another 2-3 solid games, preferably with some coaches votes.

That list is only 1st year rookies, so doesn't include players who are eligible but have been on a list longer than 1 season.

Current favourite is George Wardlaw and Oliver Dempsey is 2nd favourite. Windsor is paying $15! So maybe worth a punt, but I'd be surprised if Wardlaw doesn't win. The AFL will want North to have something!

Reid is ineligible as he was suspended.... stupid rule I know

Shifter Sheehan gave our boy his one and only vote in the rising star which was good enough for equal 10th.

Looking forward to his development over the next few years.

That is unbelievable Nascent, don’t you get votes when nominated?

No, nominations just makes him eligible to be voted on. A panel of judges then do a 5,4,3,2,1 allocation each to decide the winner.

You can see all the votes here...

Was very pleased with Caleb Windsor's first year in the AFL.

Shame he got injured.

He does remind me a little bit of Demon legend Robbie Flower. Just the way he moves.

Hopefully, he has a massive Pre-Season and comes back stronger and fitter in Season 2025 next year.

He's been a great pick up.  Pay no attention to this "Rising Star" nonsense.  For goodness sake, Lewis Taylor beat Bont for it in 2014! Dane Swan, Jonathon Brown and Gary Ablett Jnr never even got nominated.  It's a speculative award at best. Windsor will be an absolute star.

Last year we had the best and worst recruits. Windsor is very good. Not many first year players play 95% of games  and play well in most games.

I was pleasantly shocked on how ready Windsor was for AFL footy (compared to Kolt, who at times struggled with the intensity when the game was hot)

He was unleashed in the Carlton practice match and kicked 2 silky goals which prompted Cal Twomey to tweet a Chris Judd comparison. Then in game 4 he's kicking a 52 metre sealer against Port in hostile territory.

Tremendous first year IMO, despite a few quiet games throughout.

We'd have to have one of the better winger combos IMO heading into next year with Langdon and Windsor.

More than a little bit. His movement and kicking style on the run brings back memories.

Let’s not put too higher expectations on Leb. He was impressive and not so impressive this year. In a year we all needed some positives, I hope we are not setting him up to fail and he becomes a whipping bit in future.

Long season for any first year player.

He had a good debut season and looks to have genuine potential. He will have some ups and downs in his second season. Don't be too harsh on him when he has a few down games in 2025, its all part of the learning process.

Don't panic, this is here to serve as a distraction to all the other bs going on. Great first year by our young winger.

Some exciting highlights.

I love how clean Caleb Windsor is with the ball.

Definitely a little bit of "Robbie Flower" about the way he moves though!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
