McClure suggesting Melbourne won’t be involved in the weekend.

And a couple of games will be in QLD on the same weekend.

Then we'll play at the gabba or gold coast.

Proposed week 1 scenario according to Sam McClure who seemed very confident:

Gold Coast V Richmond

Brisbane V Carlton

Sydney V Collingwood

GWS v Essendon

Don't mind it especially if it means we get Round 24 at the MCG.

Collingwood will no doubt throw the toys out of the cot.

It reads as if Collingwood actually want to go up there in round 1.

The AFL *sigh* they barely give us time to catch our breath before adding in yet another change. I’m still getting over Gather Round. I don’t even understand this one. Is the season a week longer with this? Meanwhile, we now have 18 teams in the W comp yet this season comprises only 10 H&A rounds. I’d lose so much respect for the AFL if I had any to start with.

No doubt Melbourne will play Sydney at the SCG. Bookmark it.

Yep just heard on the news this morning. Gws v Collingwood, Sydney v Melbourne . Could be wrong but at least it's one interstate game game out of the way early.

Standalone game, great exposure, few days in Sydney for us fans. Bring it. Players get a free weekend in Round 1.

Can't see the angst.

Only if Grundy is BOG!

Any excuse to get MFC travelling interstate as often as possible.

Our 2024 fixture could get ugly.

Our 2024 fixture may have us playing round 1 at the SCG, ANZAC eve away, KB away, Alice Springs (home) and Kardinia and Hobart. Yep - ugly.

collingwood again seizing the initiative and bullying the AFL.

GF replay was a feature recently.

Melbourne V Sydney is the rivalry that AFL should grow. ITs already an existing feeling that can be leveraged for maximum impact right at the start of the season when there is so much promise.

And the only reason they can think of is that it pits Brodie against us.

Sheesh.

If that's their only pitch to build it up, it seems pretty unfair on all parties really.

Gee wiz.

We've got a good rivalry with Sydney, but I don't see it as a huge one.

Don't know why the AFL are obsessed with needing to pitch these epic rematches in Rd 1.  Everyone is craving for any AFL action at all.  I'd actually rather play someone other than the Bulldogs in Rd 1 for a change, but asides from that, I don't really care who or where, so long as it isn't Geelong at Cat park - surely we can have a season we don't travel there away?

Split rounds are a horrible way to start the season in my opinion.

You wait 6 months for footy season to start and to get stuck into that main course and you're served with two entrees.

Every team has the same level of interest in this competition, let them all start on the same weekend.

Sure most people will tune in but the way my viewing went this year I'd likely miss both Syd based games and just wait for the week after.

melbourne should only agree if we don't have to go to mordor this year

we need to speak up and not let the big clubs dictate again

Except the AFL does what the AFL wants to do, no provisos.

The whole “floating” of an idea is laughable. They’ll go ahead and do what they want regardless of what everyone else says.

I’ll give them one thing though, they’re all for equality… our girls were sent to Mordor AND on a Thursday night. 🙄

The club might be happy to be involved in this as it gives them prime time exposure when the footy world will be starving for footy, with only 2-4 games on that weekend.

As I mentioned above, there are conflicting reports with relation to who is involved. One source suggested we may not even be involved on that weekend.

The MFC wont lobby the AFL. .Theyre too polite. It aggravates me.

So we could end up playing two Home and Away games back to back at the SCG. We recently played two H&A games at the gabba in 3 games. R23 + R2.

Nothing changes.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
