Had much worse seasons at the Dogs too like 2022.

I thought that Hunter looked good in 2023 because I don't think Langdon had a great year.

.... then I had the thought that Langdon didn't have as good a year as 2021 and 2022 as we we played a large portion of our attack through him and Jordon and Brayshaw played more as a defensive wing.

Phew! Two thoughts before 10am there. I'm out till lunch soz

Now play me all his worst shots... Ahh sorry, I can't watch for ten hours...don't have enough time...

Anyway I want Melbourne to select me with pick 93.. just so I can fill my pockets.

Ok but expect to be unfairly maligned before you even pull on a guernsey. I mean, that’s how you roll, right?

So you play Billings 20-30 metres from the Goal Square

Get him fit, then “Kick 30 Goals for us in 2024 Jack” Another 20 from McAdam…

The Aints are still paying him

He can't kick, he's slow, he's really soft, I hear his mum is a drug dealer, there are rumours going around that he slept with his teammate's wife.

Can't believe we wasted a 6th round draft pick on this hack. We could have recruited the next Bontempelli instead.

Robert Elliot was a pretty good player.

Going back a fair ways.

Seems like an experienced depth player who can play forward or in the mid-field that is a good kick.

Exactly what we need given some of the outs.  Play on.

Unless he's a culture killer and St Kilda couldn't wait to get him out the back door, then I can't see one ounce of downside in getting a player who once had a 30 possession/5 goal game and recorded 12 Brownlow votes in one particular year, for a future 3rd rounder.

At worst he's simply replacing JJ or Harmes in the depth department at maybe 250K a year??

Sounds like a good bit of business at this stage.

A Jack, a Tom and a Shane.

We're so deelightfully old school!

(To ice this, I was hoping there was a Tom to join Jack Mueller (39,40,41,48) and Shane McGrath (41,48) in their premiership teams. Alas, there wasn't. 1900's Tommy Ryan and our TMac, who's been around seemingly forever anyway, must suffice.)

Good he'll fit in. The more players we get that keep Collingwood's premirship out of the news the better.

He’s been playing with the Saints no wonder he’s been ordinary over the last few years.

Jack Billings is definitely worth a try ahead of Harmes and Jordon.

Highly astute pick up in the context of what we paid

Always struck me as the type who would find the next level in a better side

He has had to deal with the fact that the Saints took him at Pick 3 and the Bont went at Pick 4.

StK fans have never cut him any slack and have ridden him hard.

Hey Jack, are you sure you still want to come to the Dees?

Just disappointing we didn't pick up another James.

My Saints mate - who is an avid but astute fan - reckons Jack will be good for us.

Nice bloke jack Mueller...used to say "how good would I have been with 5 fingers". ( Only had 3 on one hand.

I believe kicked 8,6 and 6 goals in the PF,GF and GF replay in 48?

For that contemporary, Petty-like, feel, too, he was at full back in his first GF, I think.

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
