Useless question you ask !!

We don't have Flynn any way so move on. TF is a Far better prospect and can play CHF and/or FF far better, ruck adequately and is 5 years younger.

Did WC know how good Josh Kennedy was before they had him traded in the Judd deal ? No and TF is in his prime at 23/24 years to blossom in the big time on the big stage as a forward/ruck graduate in the Gawn school of footy.

But seriously he has much more cred than Schache and starts with a blank canvas. He hasn't been harmed up forward at Brisbane under JoeD  and Hippy yet so he can freewheel into town with no scars and a big open mind to show what he's got for us in the big time.

I am genuinely pleased and well a bit excited at the prospect of a 200cm forward joining our ranks at the prime time of a career for a big KP/ ruck player perhaps for a second/third round ( possibly No 39 for JJ).

What's the story about candy and babies? Who cares he's our baby now for Chocco to finish off his apprenticeship and provide some candy that's far better than a Shacky out of ol' Brisbane town.

Let the Olympic ( I mean AFL) games begin in 2024 and hopefully go thru to 2032 for TF.  Well he won't outlast Dan's career but surely Anastasia's by a decent way!

PS we have a new Tommy in town to replace our old and worn out Tmac tractor and BBB machine with a bit of ruck craft to boot.

Cheers Dees!! ( Hope these words don't raise false hopes ) Oh and TF please don't let me down!
No pressure!!

So in summary,  Diamond Jim 2.0

Thanks 58er.

I'm liking it.

But will try to keep expectations in check; he doesn't seem to have a ruck's 'bigness', and 2 years seems short for the mutual buy-in to 'getting going' à la Max. And he's moving from his home state.

I do wonder if we might still look at a back-up ruck as a DFA or rookie.

Sam Hayes and Scott Lycett for Port I believe are out of contract and would come cheap. Not sure we can rely on Fullarton if Gawn goes down and he seems to be more a fwd with a little bit of ruck rather than the other way round.

I agree that we should pursue someone like Hayes or Lycett. I doubt that the club sees Fullarton as a successor to Max. hence the 2 year deal.

I think they might be happy to chance it in 24.  Look to use Fullarton as a potential chop out rather than a fully fledged ruck back up.

While hoping that Verral comes on at Casey as the potential ruck for 2025.

If he doesn't come on as expected in 24 then sure, we may need to start looking to trade in a serious alternative.

Lycett has a contract in front of him but it is said to be pitiful, think he will walk to the draft,  be very happy to pick him up if we have list spots.

Not too shabby..  he's relatively young and raw...  might be looking to starr coming into his potential.

Shrewd get.

That may well be the key: a shrewd get, peaking slowly within a talent-ridden team at present. He can kick 'em, too - for a mobile big-'un. May well be a great sniff for us so therefore, some heavy pre-season training and development might just round him out.

Could Gunston wanting to leave change Brisbane's thoughts about trading Fullarton?

No.

He's out of contract and requested a trade

Because they're like-for-like? 🤨

True, however he is a local QLD guy and Brisbane are talking about giving him more $$ and the same years in a contract

Done for pick 47 Twomey is reporting, seems fair

He's definitely got a few tricks and he can play out of a the square also. Sure he's a bit lazy (I'll put him in the top 5 match day whipping boy status)  but right now I'd give up some defensive  forward  intensity for a guy that can snag 3 creative goals from nowhere. 47 is a great price.

Makes Weideman and Schache look like Wayne Carey.

Regardless, he's a demon now so let's see if he can crack into our 22 at some stage next year.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #42 Aidan Johnson

The VFL premiership player was recruited from Werribee to alleviate Melbourne’s forward line woes and give a chop out in the ruck, but he managed only five senior matches in his first season at the club. At times, he was a dominant force at VFL level.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #44 Luker Kentfield

An exciting young key forward, Kentfield was selected in the 2024 mid-season draft but has yet to make his AFL debut. He was sidelined by a severe bout of pneumonia over the summer, which consequently limited his pre-season. Upon his return a month into the season, he commenced in defence but ultimately impressed with his progress at Casey, particularly in the latter part of the season as a strong marking goal kicking forward.

  • AFLW REPORT: West Coast

Melbourne’s response to last week’s heartbreak was emphatic, as the Demons delivered a statement win over West Coast at a windswept Casey Fields. All of the pre-match hype surrounded the coach’s box matchup of Mick Stinear up against his apprentice, Daisy Pearce along with the gloomy weather forecast. In the end, it was less about tactical chess and more about Melbourne’s relentless execution. With rain looming, the DeeArmy and early birds snapped up the best undercover viewing spots.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: West Coast

Epic battle alert.  This Sunday, Casey Fields hosts a coach’s showdown pitting the wits of the master Mick Stinear (92 games, 71.7% win rate) against his protégé Daisy Pearce (16 games, 43.8%). Still early in her coaching journey, Daisy’s record doesn’t yet reflect her impact — but she’s already the best-performed coach at West Coast.Dais’ is mythic.  Like Katniss Everdeen, everyone either wants to kiss her, kill her (sporting metaphor) or be her.  Toothers Daisy Pearce is a role model, someone admired for their heart, humility and humour.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.
