Too bad it wasn’t Darcy Fogarty and pick 14 we just may have jumped at it. I’m still hopeful that Petty will stay, we don’t have to trade him until the end of ‘25 unless the offer is too good to turn down. He’s a Premiership backman 197cm a good mark and kick who loves body contact and can go forward and kick a goal or six. Be patient let Harrison find his fitness and form he will come good (barring injury) and straighten us up in the forward line. It is a long long season.!!

Not sure where you got that info from.
Adelaide did have picks 11 and 15 at one stage but traded them (and a future 2nd round) to GWS for picks 8 and 17.

The only report I saw that mentioned picks was from SA reporter Theo Doropoulos who said pick 14 and McAdam had been offered by the Crows.

IMO Petty will leave at the end of this year and we'll be lucky to get a late first round pick.

Petty's never going to be a KPP - forward or back.

I read an analysis last year that actually highlighted how rare any "return from Victoria to interstate" trades were, especially for first round picks.

Jackson is a genuine outlyer. Most are lower draft picks who don't make it at their original club and get shuffled home for a second chance (like Jimmy Toumpas).

I read lips and body language pretty well and very closely watched their defenders appearing to heavily try to get inside his head when off the ball.   (Not just that mock crying taunt.)

I hope he gets a little help/advice so that becomes water off a ducks back to him.

They were certainly getting into him 'Rob'.

Aligned with his lack of preseason & not getting a clear run with injury, his confidence is well down.

His kicking is a symptom of that.

There was pick trading up until and on draft night wasn't there?  I remember at the time thinking the Petty trade could work if we packaged all our picks to WCE for Pick 1, otherwise we still go into the draft with a big hand.

I was excited about his great form up forward too, I won't lie - but prior to that he was playing poorly in defence and I remember advocating for Tomlinson over him after 5 rounds.

You can trade picks all the way up to and on draft night though? 6,11,12,15 and a future first, there’s no doubt we could’ve made some big plays with that, had a month to prepare it, probably would’ve made the eagles have a good hard think about trading pick 1

I’ll say it again, there’s no way known we were going to get picks 11 and 15 for Petty. He’s played 5 and a bit years, averaging 12 games per year and 8.5 disposals per game.

Scott Thompson was homesick, and requested trade back to Crows. After we groomed and nurtured him through injury and about to make his mark. Played 49 games with MFC in 4yrs and then 269 games with the Crows. It will be interesting to watch Petty's body language for the rest of the year. Will we see another Luke Jackson and not go at the contest fearing injury like he played in 2022. Petty will do the same and not want to jeopardise his prospects for a trade.

I was dubious about Petty's desire to return to SA until I read an interview with his sister Hannah who is captain of the Adelaide Thunderbirds.  Hannah mentioned that the family was very tight.

She said that Harrison was keen to return to SA. I do think the MFC will trade him at the end of this season whilst there a chance of getting something of value.

IMO the best chance of him staying is if we make it to the GF (and Crows finish down the ladder).

He's as good as gone IMO so his form lifting immediately will be a two fold win. We are better when he's clunking the ball and his value increases.

He's been underrated as part of a cohesive backline team ,how he goes in the chaos of the Melbourne forward line is uncertain ,given the small sample.

Wonder if Lukosious becomes a realistic option should we have an agreement with Petty to move him on if we find a suitable replacement.

Again, we don't have to trade him at the end of this year as he is contracted for next season so things would have to be in our favour to do it.

The club have been very proactive in recent years in signing / re signing players. We also have recent experience in players wanting to go home ie L.J. 
Petty is contracted until the end of next season, I’m guessing we’ve already offered him a new contract which supersedes his current. 
I think he’s definitely a keeper because of his ability and age. He can replace May in 1-2 years time. If we’re getting L.J vibes we need to move on someone else, can’t afford to get caught with our pants down.
