Exclusive: The Crows will again open Gather Round next year with a blockbuster clash at Adelaide Oval, facing Melbourne on Thursday night.

farrrrk !  Are we just the AFL punching bag again.

As mentioned above, Carlton and Bulldogs drew the short straw in 2023.

Us and Essendon have drawn the short straw next year.

Two other clubs will draw the short straw in 2025.

I personally don’t see the issue.

Not sure its been mentioned but one of our major sponsor Jaguar will no longer be continuing in 2024.

I've just been told this from a contact who has input in the manufacturering of our guernseys.

Hertz will take on the back of the gurnsey major sponsorship.

Club looking for Short sponsorship to replace Hertz. I

That will be a horrible looking logo.. big yellow patch on the back

As a general rule, if your Round 1 game is at home, your final game will be away and vice versa. There are a few exceptions eg. North might have a home game at Marvel in Round 1 and a home game in Tassie in Round 24. Eg. 2 MCG tenants (excluding Melb) might have home and away games at the G in the first and final round - eg. Carlton, eg. Carlton eg. Carlton. When a team gets a home game at the start and end of the year (rare), it will be an interstate team and the following year they may have both as away games eg. Port.

In the pre COVID 2020 fixture we got stiffed.

Round 1 in Perth and round 23 in Hobart (although the fixture got torn up for obvious reasons.

Yes we drew the short straw next season but that is so predictable. I said on DL a few months back we will play Crows or Port next season in Gather Round. Its so predictable.

Last year Collingwood got 10 days break before Gather round. We got 6  and we lost.

Will lowly Hawthorn play at the Cattery. Theyre well overdue but will they?  We'll know soon enough.

Dees to the Gabba again and Norff in Tassie- our injury graveyard?

I think Crows will get  red carpet service next season due to AFL making amends for the Swans debacle.

Just eyeballed now. Gather Round,  Pies v Hawks  AO

Hilarious.

Too early to call a change of 💔 from the AFL fixture Tin men. But a premium position given the local interest and venue. Demons can Fly in and Fly out with the Grange Hermitage. Crows can warble 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow', as a lament, accompanied by ukulele from the Adelaide Oval dungeons. Blues can tip toe thru the dewdrops seeking a humility transplant.

Not that I particularly give a [censored] but Richmond v St. Kilda at Norwood. Would have had that game at Adelaide Oval and moved the Geelong Doggies game to Norwood. Or for [censored] and giggles have the Doggies play at Mt Barker………wherever that is

One day someone will be able to explain to me the point of the "gather" round.  Till then I'll continue to wonder why (surely it's not to make money?).  There is enought difficulty in arranging something even approaching a fair draw given all the constraints that exist already.

Whats the point of the Gather Round?

Its an additional 9 games of mostly dull non marquis games played in a small Aussie rules state. Whats it promoting? The Gather Round should be played in NSW and Qld  if at all.

Its a free lunch for Port and Crows getting an additional home game.

I expect the Crows to finish deep inside the eight next year.

MFC better have a big pre season.

Great. I’m flying to Melbourne from Alice the same weekend of gather round, hoping I could see the Dees play in Melbourne, something I haven’t done in about 10 years. Thanks AFL FFS. Even any game would have been good…

Hope we play at home the following weekend when I fly home.

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
