I'll be surprised if we don't get Lynch, Hawkins or someone of their ilk.

Hawkins has been a great player and despite all the don't like hims on here is probably a good bloke.

Never met him so wouldn't know...

Anyway, I think he's shot.

Do we really want to carry Tmac, BBB and Tommy Hawkins on the list.

He is a very very nice guy off the field. So is his wife Emma.
I honestly think if he doesn’t come to terms with Geelong he will retire.

The guy deserves respect if only for punching Gary Rohan in the mush (allegedly) during the Queensland hub.

Couldn't give a rats.. not looking for a friend 😉

Why is that even a footy consideration ....

As previous... hope he enjoys mowing....or local theatre perhaps... he has a penchant for acting !!!

I had said in another thread that there is just no way this guy plays anywhere else but the fact he happily told Josh Jenkins - who he knew would share it on radio - there was issues/deadlock in negotiations suggests to me he is either trying to force Geelong’s hand or soften the impact for Cats supporters if he were to leave. I hope the latter - we would be a better side with him in it next year.

Worst case we are driving up his price and hurting Geelong’s salary cap.

Yep agree - was about to post similar.

The fact he told Josh Jenkins and obviously told Jenkins it was ok to report on, tells me that this is his way of trying to push Geelong to give him the extra year he wants. Geelong have offered one year, Jethro wants two.

WWRD

What Would Roos Do?

The answer is No Way!

I don’t want him on the field.

Would love him to mentor JVR in some capacity though.

Would he be worth a 1 or 2 year deal if in "a purely football act" his elbow were to somehow connect with the eye socket of Maynard the next time he lined up on him?

What about a re-incarnated David Schwartz?

small farms in Collingwood too

Would we want him? Is this preposterous? I feel like something would be wrong in the world if you saw him in anything other than a Geelong jumper…but what if???

If he left which I dont think he will, its wouldn't be a "silly"  thought. But it would be if we gave up a first rounder. Has to be a pick in the late 20's or early 30's to have my interest. Geelomg would never let him walk anyway.

Does this really need a new thread to the Tom Hawkins thread?

Absolutely can see this happening.

Hawkins, T Mac, Ben Brown in the same fwd line

we’d run out of strapping and tape by round 3

My bad didn't know there was already a thread, thanks someone for fixing that.

He'd be handy, wouldn't he? I think Petty has the capacity to play a similar role for us. He's not as quick or as agile as pre knee Ox, but great hands, great kick, good footy mind, and has good forward craft.

I love it

get 3 walking frames and ramps put in at Casey fields. If BBB and Tmcd went, then you could ramp up interest in Hawkins but I’m not buying right now.

Next year will be his 18th season.

He has kicked more than 60 goals 4 times. (only twice in the past 9 years)

He would want $750k for a one year contract

Pass from me, He's not the messiah

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
