Are we all on the Giants bandwagon?

I'm proud to say I picked the GWS renaissance before we played them in Round 15 or whenever it was.

However at quarter time of Carlton v GC at the MCG in June, I thought Carlton were more likely to finish bottom 4 and sack Voss than get anywhere near this far.

He was probably only 1 or 2 more losses away for that.

It genuinely is a game of fine fine margins. Careers are built and lost on it, both players and coaching staff.

The Giants were excellent last night (other than goal-kicking in the second half). I wish we could play like that.

We definitely need some new assistant coaches who can help evolve a more corridor-based plan. The game has moved on and i fear we're getting left behind.

Ha. No-one has mentioned that GWS beating Port, puts us at 6th, instead of 5th and improves our draft hand by one spot. That's enough to barack for the Giants (and my daughter likes their song)

maybe we should have lost more games

" getting " left behind?..anyone who stopped being silly and watched the Pies LAST season saw MFC was already left behind.

Lions v GWS GF coming up hopefully! I actually think it’ll happen. Don’t mind which of those sides wins, as long as the other two don’t (who showed they were inferior to us in the finals). I still have a soft spot for the Lions because they knocked off Essendon and Collingwood in the 2001-03 GFs, something I’ll be forever grateful for.

YES

Desperately want a Lions v GWS grand final and wipe that smerk of disbelief off  Voss's face.

No  way Maynard goes after Mr Toby or any other player. They'd rip that dogs head off.

Melbourne are still  considered soft in some aspects otherwise Maynard wouldnt have slaughtered Brayshaw. Why didnt Melbourne make his game hell?

MFC have to shutdown all this social work nonesense. Ben Brown spent most of the season hanging with children. Hes the highest paid social worker in Australia on 650k ?

Shutdown Alice Springs and all that feel good nonesense that goes with it.

We look soft. Its  just a fact so get over it. If we dont toughen up we'll go out in straight sets again.

It took Scott a long time to change the Geelong game and they had footy IQ superstars in their team.

Can we wait 10 years for the penny to drop?

They take the first option, like a top premier league team.  We are always stopping and propping with no options upfield.

They’re also super clean. It was nice to watch a team play with such crispness. Especially the second quarter. It looked elite.

I agree with all of this but still have a beef with the afl syndicated team and the grief we copped through the draft when they came into the competition.
My vote is for a night grand final and a massive power failure as a result of the Kiss concert at half time which will take 6 months to fix

What? Let's state the actual facts here. Melbourne should have won both finals this year. The problem wasn't our game style. It was purely and simply execution (plus injuries to key players at the wrong time). If Brayshaw had played against Carlton & Collingwood (he played the first 5 minutes) we would have won. If Van Rooyen had played against Carlton we would have won. If Melksham & Petty weren't out we would have won both finals. If we had kicked remotely straight and had a decent amount of luck we would have won.

What exactly have Collingwood achieved so far? Didn't make the Grand Final last year and are in the Prelim this year when they don't deserve to be. We have absolutely nothing to learn from Collingwood's game style. Other sides have now worked them out. A good team but not a great one.

Total BS. Melbourne aren't a soft team. We didn't lose either game because we were soft. Poor execution, yes. Lapses in concentration at key times, yes. What an idiotic comment about social work. Ben Brown clearly has chronic injury concerms and I'm happy he's making a difference to the world if he's not playing. Have his social work activities caused his inability to get on the park? NO. We play in Alice Springs for purely financial reasons. If we are there why wouldn't we support the local community?

Obviously every Melbourne supporter is going to support GWS against Collingwood. I'm not entirely convinced about GWS yet. They've beaten probably the weakest 2 teams in the finals in their 2 games. Having said that, Collingwood were extremely lucky to beat Melbourne. They will be strengthened by the return of Nick Daicos but he could be underdone. Collingwood aren't a great team despite the media hype so I'm hoping GWS can take it up to them.

A Brisbane/GWS Grand Final would be fantastic. Also justified as Carlton are in a Prelim because they've won 2 games they should have lost (in both cases they were outplayed but their opponents couldn't convert when it counted), and Collingwood also should have lost against Melbourne.

Yes, yes and yes my family are riding GWS like Sea Biscuit lol.!!! I love the way they play they have a bit more height, pace and skill through the midfield, the very thing we need to stock up on this draft period. Dare I say it, Go Giants and please leave a calling card with Maynard.!!!!

Amazing what good kicking can do. Although they missed a few as well overall they have some elite kicks in Kelly, Whitfield etc.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full
