Apparently Emerson Jeka was delisted by the Hawks.

He is a 198cm key forward originally from the Western Jets.

Here is the link about it: https://www.afl.com.au/news/1042682/josh-morris-emerson-jeka-fionn-ohara-depart-hawthorn-after-2023-season

Perhaps Emerson Jeka is worth giving a 2nd chance to? However, I don't know much about him.

Ah, no! This is a guy that kicked 0.7 in a VFL game!

Most Hawk supporters know he is nowhere near the standard.

Jeka has just turned 22, is a maturing big man and yet to reach his potential.
He has talent, was chosen at #9 and is worth a close look.

I've been trying to mentally sort the key forwards (who are even remotely possible acquisitions) into 'expensive gun' and 'quality role-player' types. Figured if I put it down in writing it would reduce my overall level of confusion. So, with an invite to people putting a line through them, adding a question mark, endorsing them, mocking them, or suggesting what they reckno the trade cost would be, here we go;

Expensive guns;

Aaron Naugton,     Pick-any King,     Jack Lukosius,     Oscar Allen,     Harry McKay

Quality role-players or young potential in crowded forward lines;

Jamarra Ugle-Hagan,     Todd Marshall,     Jake Riccardi,     Darcy Fogarty,     Logan McDonald,

Hayden McLean,       Riley Thilthorpe,     Ben McKay (switching forward?)

My personal preference from a value-for-trade/money perspective would go Riccardi, McLean, Thilthorpe and then the fantasy of getting Lukosius.

#9 in the rookie draft!

Taken 9 in the rookie draft. Surely we're not desperate enough to pick anyone who is tallish and can hold a sherrin. We do seem to have an abundance of not good enough tall forwards.

I saw a tall bloke at the shops earlier - don’t know if he’s any good but I’ll ask him if he can kick straight

I'm tall, ill play forward

I mean, I'm 40 and 25kgs overweight but I'll lead up at the ball

Have any of the players on our list kicked 3 in a mid gippy 2s game? No they havent. I rest my case.

I reckon Naughton might be our best chance in nabbing a Tall Power Forward out of Contract in 2024, 24 years of age, Dogs desperate for picks.

Been poor this year Naughts are change of scenery with his mates Lachie and big Shaq dog might be what the doctor ordered, times are changing for WB.

2023 was not a great year for Naughton but he's a very good player.  If he's an option we should seriously chase him.

He’s also an exciting forward jumping all over the place. Would get kids through the door

Sounds like he would slot straight in at the Dees

With those numbers he would be a certain starter for us 🤗

And which mid Gippy team might this be @biggestred? We could talk for countless hours about the greatness that is FCFNC 😝😝😝

So long as it wasn’t Yinnar, Morwell East or Newborough 🤮

Nice ground Boolarra (at least it’s flat unlike Mirboo Nth and Hill End)

It might be a dumb suggestion as he is key to our back successes, but what about putting Steven May at full-forward and getting Ben McKay from North as a key back?

Dumb Dumb Dumb

thats right ONE day in Sept that's all we would have !!

That's a 26-goal season right there!

(On a serious note, it's also 7 shots (not counting any OOBs!) So something to work with?)

Having a look over playing lists, there’s a few that seem to have excess tall forwards.
Looking for a bargain...

StK - Cooper Sharman?

Coll - Ash Johnson?

GCS - Burgess? Chol the obvious option. McLaughlin?

Adel - Fogarty? Gollant?

WBD - O’Brien?

Port - Lord? Scully?

Haw - Ramadan?

Freo - Corbett? Treacy? Kuek?

Did I just dream this or was this in the rumour file?

Dees given up on trying to snare No.1 pick and Harley Reid.

Now all into luring Nick Larkey from Kangas.

With cap space created by Grundy/Harmes/Brown, will sign him on mega four-year deal worth $4M.

North to receive picks 5 and 13 plus Paul Spargo.

Dees to solve forward issues for next few years with van Rooyen and Petty further up field and Larkey and Fritter near goals.

Maybe we can throw in Bob Spargo and Bob Spargo Snr as well.

It will have to happen with another player as Spargo is a required player and won't be released.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

Following an injury-interrupted start to the season, McVee struggled to maintain the standard he established in 2025 as he pursued an expanded role within the team structure. He remained a firm fan favourite and the club had hoped to negotiate a new contract with the former rookie selection from Western Australia, whose partner, Lily Johnson, plays for Melbourne's AFLW side. Those hopes were dashed when he expressed his desire to return to his home state and play for Fremantle. Like all players who have worn the red and blue and are leaving this year, we wish him well in the future.
