Tmac out for me.  Sub is the last position he could play. Would offer very little in the final heat of the game.

Who are you going to put in instead the cupboard is bare.

TMac has to stay in, we do not have an alternative. Grundy has to come in too, even if he plays predominantly in the ruck and Gawn plays forward a little more. There is no way that we can go in with TMac as the only tall forward....or can we?

With McKay out, would it be worth rolling the dice by bringing in Tomlinson and throwing May forward? Would certainly provide a better forward contest than Schache or Grundy.

We're running out of options.

[censored] it, I would!

I think you'll find supporter morale at a post-flag year low. I'd be surprised to see dees fans turn out in much force unfortunately especially after putting up with Pies fans last week. A lot just won't want to go through that again.

Find this very hard to believe. If you can't be bothered to turn up to a final because of low morale then you're not a supporter to begin with.

Is that confirmed? I assumed we would be Friday

Correct.  Whately just stated its a Friday night game. As it should be.

Does anyone have the stats on teams winning the flag after losing the QF?

i remember the Hawks doing it

i seriously think we could do it. we are fit enough

The week off helps, with only five teams – Brisbane in 2003, Sydney in 2005, West Coast in 2006, Hawthorn in 2015 and Richmond in 2020 – losing qualifying finals, then winning the flag

I think he's got a point though, re the ferals. Carlton won't be an improvement on the Pies, probably worse.

If I had a family with kids, I don't think I'd feel safe to bring them along.

I don't like him as a sub.  He can stay in or not. We won't win because of him.

It’s very easy to hide behind a ‘facepalm’.

Was the question too hard for you to answer ?

We never make many changes at Melbourne so it will be Gus and JVR out and JJ and Grundy in. I would prefer Turner to Grundy but they will take the conservative approach. Turner can play back and maybe experiment forward where as Grundy can only tap ruck.

Carlton will match us in the centre and have a much more even inside 50 count. We surely need to play with three key tall defenders, even with McKay out.

Then get a babysitter and leave the kids at home.

Correct. I was sitting in afl members for the Collingwood game and I would never bring my 12 and 10 year old. Felt very unsafe

I wouldnt be surprised that AFL has a full alcohol ban in a few years. No point having mid strength beers if bogans just load up on full strength bourbons

Complete nonsense.

Are you saying there are no ferals within the Carlton army? I have experienced both Carlton and Collingwood and are, in my view, at a similar level.

If we kick straight, we'll win.

If we don't, we won't. I think it's that simple.

We'll win all the other stats just like we did against the pies.

I don't see Grundy helping our goal kicking. Stick with TMac rusty and all as he is. IF we can get it into his hands he's a much better set-shot.

I think spargo should come back in. I'm a big fan of his because he can deliver a pass. He might be able to find Tmac and Fritsch on the lead. He has lost his form badly this year, i acknowledge that, and has rightly dropped but jeez we need his kicking skills and I50 delivery. Worth a punt, i think.

Team selection

unavailable Petty. Melksham.

definitely out - Brayshaw (WWE elbow move by Maynard)  JVR (suspended)

(Need grundy in to contest against Weitering)

I think we need to maintain that structure for the rest of the year.

He wasn't there to take Nibblerd spot bin.

Right now he'd be competing with Chandler and Spargo. On form alone this year he's ahead of both.

He's the number 1 rated small forward in the competition for defensive tackling and pressure. Something we're actually lacking right now.

True true dazzle  I would have been happy if they had played him more games

Like other players from all clubs, he was peed off because he didn't get enuff games last year, quite sure if he stuck around he most likely would have been a regular this year. I was just reminding Kent that we didn't give him away.

Hope that satisifies YOU

No it doesn’t.

It doesn’t explain why the Club didn’t identify his true talent and nurture it, instead of favouring others who had received many more chances and clearly had less up side.

Having Bedford now would have substantially improved our Premiership chances.

I went to plenty of games at Princes Park back in the day, while it was intimidating at times it was mostly a tame environment. I also went to plenty of games at Victoria Park, I don't remember one time where there wasn't some kind of issue and leaving the ground was never easy as an oppo fan.

There isn't one game I go to where I feel I need to have my wits about me as much as Collingwood games. In comparison going to a Carlton game is a walk in the park.

T Mac stays in. missed 3 months and came in for a fierce contest. he’ll come good

Trac to play 80% fwd plus Fritsch will have to do.

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
