We’ll all be decked out in our new “Possessed” cheer squad T-shirts. Ryan, our chant leader, flew to Brisbane to pick them up this morning. Shipping was quoted as $1,100 so Ryan found flights for half the cost, and now we’ll have them in time for tonight’s match. PUMPED!!!

… and POSSESSED!!!!!!

Ryan, what a legend!!  I'm wearing a 2021 premiership top to the G, to be subbed out for the Possessed top on arrival 😄

It would be fortuitous if our Filth brethren read our 'Cox Sausage' comments and informed him not to worry about it - it would put him right off his game, deliriously.

I haven’t done a game day tip for some time, but I’m trying to convince myself that end of season form does really matter and that’s why we were exposed in the finals last year and went out in straight sets. Surely the end of season form we have this year and the end of season form the Pies have does mean something and we will see that translate into a win tonight.

Dees by 22.

If we lose tonight and lose against Carlton next week, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to trust in-season form again!

I thought out form was pretty decent in the last 4 rounds of last year. That's why I was blind sighted by going out in straight sets.

Beat Freo by 7 goals in Perth, a 7 point loss to Pies in a high quality game, a 5 point win over Carlton and 10 goal win at the GABBA. All were top half of the ladder teams.

I think last year was more injury related than form related.

Losing to Collingwood and Carlton in straight sets will be 55,000 times worse than losing to Sydney and Brisbane in straight sets.

Maybe nervous optimism but the more I think about it I feel like we have selected well for the conditions (or at least I've been able to apply logic to justify it).

Hibberd not tall but tall enough in wet conditions when marking is tough and brings some ground ball agility (theoretically moreso than Turner / Tomlinson).

Smith again tall (but not huge) bu super athletic. Very fit, good foot speed and great leap. Can be used forward and back (again more flexible than Turner / Tomlinson).

Laurie sub. Small, quick, agile, good kick & performed well as sub last two weeks.

Go Dees!

That’s true, but Sydney had won 7 in a row before facing us, yet the amount of confidence going into last year’s QF was pretty high from memory.

I’m hoping the Pies are like us from last year and we’re like the Swans (except for the GF thumping)

If the rain comes and then goes fast, and the deck looks like it'll be dry, do we make a late change and bring Tomlinson in?

@Bitter but optimistic this is just what this thread needed. Calming dog energy

Bear is pumped. Magpies are his favourite bird to bark at!

To stay calm I have not looked at one weather forecast. However I just got home from work to find my kitchen sink swarming in ants. Definite rain to follow. The ants are never wrong.

Radar suggesting showers inevitable and probably soon...But forecast only 1 - 4 mm

I think kicking in very blustery conditions could decide the game. Who can get them in close where the shots will be more accurate?

  • PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

With both sides precariously positioned ahead of the run home to the finals, only one team involved in Sunday’s clash at the Adelaide Oval between the Power and the Demons will remain a contender when it’s over.  On current form, that one team has to be Melbourne which narrowly missed out on defeating the competition’s power house Collingwood on King's Birthday and also recently overpowered both 2024 Grand Finalists. Conversely, Port Adelaide snapped out of a four-game losing streak with a win against the Giants in Canberra. Although they will be rejuvenated following that victory, their performances during that run of losses were sub par and resulted in some embarrassing blow out defeats.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • PREGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons are set to embark on a four-week road trip that takes them across the country, with two games in Adelaide and a clash on the Gold Coast, broken up by a mid-season bye. Next up is a meeting with the inconsistent Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
