I don’t think we are playing games though, it’s not our style. Our interest in Tholstrup must be genuine.

I'm not sure a taller Salem is something anyone needs. Salem doesn't play on anyone that tall and nor should he if he is a rebounding creative half back. Are there any weapon 197cm quarterbacks in the league? Stewart would be the tallest wouldn't he and he's 190. 

The Wing call I don't believe in either - tall wings have been tried and mostly fail. Tomlinson is actually in many respects a similiar athlete to Curtin and that failed too. In fact - Tomlinson is probably a good example of the danger of picking Curtin.

There are similarities to Tommo at the same age. 

If you're saying he's a Mid at 197cm, he needs to play like Cripps to make the most of that size, as he will invariably be giving away speed, agility, ground level. I'm not sure Curtin plays anything like Cripps.

Now this is a kid in the WAFL so not going to be overly critical...but he already has the body to compete. I don't see a whole heap of competitiveness, tricks, or thirst for the contest. Relatively meek in the contest. Looks lovely in space, a very nice kicking action and does win some defensive 1v1s...but coughs the ball up in most contest situations.

Not quite sure what you’re talking about with regard to Tholstrup making Curtin look second rate. I was at this game and Subi in general made Claremont look second rate during this game and it was only accurate kicking by Claremont in the 3rd which let them stay close. They were smashed in the middle by the Hickmott boys and took the ball forward at will. Curtin played on Luker Kentfield that day and Tholstrup played mostly as a forward with occasional time on the ball.  I rate them both but they were hardly matched up against each other during this game. There’s a big difference between being involved in a contest and having to move off a player to close down a free hit up opponent 

If you don't rate Curtin you've got glass eyes.

Or you're trying to find flaws, i.e. the old Simon Black syndrome.

That hasn’t been a position since at least Nick Riewoldt if not before. And the only successful key back to key forward transition in recent years has been Naughton who is a physical marking beast.

Raw as a forward played there before the national championship this year in tandem with SVR. Could play there but not something he’s familiar with prior to this year

He does have flaws that are important but I totally agree about the Simon Black syndrome aspect. The things he does well are exceptionally good.

I think he's got the best chance of all the players likely to be available at our pick to be a genuine star. I prefer him as a midfielder than as a key defender but even his worst case probably see him become a very composed and competent defender.

Fair enough. Clearly I wasn't there and you were - my perspective was from watching both those videos which are clearly extremely limited samples. Nonetheless, they meet at several contests, certainly enough to make it look like they at least started the game on each other (Tholstrup forward, Curtin back). In the contests they were both involved in, Tholstrup won most. 

Not fussed how Subi made Claremont look.

My opinion doesn't count for anything, but I see a nice player who for his size is unnatural and unhappy in the contest. All I've watched are highlights, so I'm not claiming any knowledge. Just first impressions and observations. 

I assume I'm wrong as far better judges than me think he'll be great, but they always do on these prospects & each year c.30-50% of the top 10 are busts. They're often wrong. 

Clearly if we draft him I hope he's a generational star forward, mid, back, wing, quarterback, wherever. 

Just go and watch the Adam Tomlinson 2011 Draft video on Youtube. Similiar wraps. Played forward, back, midfield. Clean skills, huge tank. Nice looking player. But there was always a hesitancy / fragility in the contest that Tommo still plays with today relative to the absolute unit of a body he has to work with. I see some similiarities.

I don’t need to watch Tomlinson, I know plenty about Curtin, spent a lot of time working with him so I’ll back that.

States Weagles plan to offer F1 to get Curtin and this would likely be with GWS. Expect Hawks to take Watson and that Dees ""have been dazzled by draft bolter Caleb Windsor, a blistering outside mid who kicks goals and would immediately add polish to the clubs forward connection issues....The demons know they need to pounce to get Windsor at 6 because GWS will otherwise take" 

Article states Geelong like Caddy at 8 and Essendon is keen on OSullivan at 9. 

If that occurred that would leave one of Wilson or Leake for us at 11 as well.

well, and tom mcdonald, whose best season for goals (53 in 2018) is still better than naughton's best season for goals (51 in 2022)
