1. Reid
2. Walter (Bid matched)
3. McKercher
4. Duursma (Has said he has a pretty good idea where he's going. North or Hawks. Thinking only Hawks if a deal for Reid gets done.)
5. Watson if not Sanders or Curtin
6. Sanders if not Watson (Dogs likely not going for a tall, as already stacked and have Croft coming)
7. Curtin if there if not Watson or Sanders. Curtin been told we will take him if still available.

Sounding about right? I'm probably missing something.

Do you have a source other what his manager is said?

Q for experts - do any feel that there may be some degree of reluctance to take Tasmanians “all things being equal” (which of course they never are) given the presumed concessions for the Tasmanian franchise in the next year or two - maybe??

I tried to delve into this topic recently for ESPN. Most of the people I spoke to weren't too worried (yet) but it'll be a different matter in coming years.

I like the profile of this kid.

Curtin and Tholstrup / Windsor / Leake would be a great haul.

Our WA contingent would be boosted with another possible 2 additions.

Im not overly excited about Sanders and would take Curtin ahead of both were available at our pick.

mcKercher was my wish and wont happen, if somehow curtain happens I'll be over the moon. O Sullivan my next best

Same here, I remember watching Jackson’s highlights and thinking it was a little underwhelming and more based on the potential of have an athletic beast. O Sullivan looks like he could turn into a weapon.

has anyone got any info on Curtin other than video highlights ,I’d like to know if his contested marking is a strength?

Herald Sun have a top 30 mock draft up online if anyone can access it.

Bit of clickie the bait from the Sun

Our draft experts Chris Cavanagh, Jordan Pinto and Dan Batten will play the role of club recruiters and run through their very own live mock draft from 12pm AEDT on Wednesday.

I’ll join in. I’m hoping we get a tall defender and a classy outside mid but also like the look of Leake.
My preference for pick 6 are as follows.

Curtin

O'Sullivan

Leake

Sanders

Watson

For pick 11

Any of the above that slide and

Windsor

Wilson

Caddy

I haven’t seen enough of Edwards or Tholstrup but given their right ups if JT was  to pick either here I wouldn’t be disappointed.

Caddy and Leake taken for the Dees in the Herald Sun’s mock draft which they’ve just done. They had North picking McKercher and Curtin with the Dees overlooking Sanders at our first pick. Personally think it’s unlikely that North overlook Duursma and also unlikely that we would overlook Sanders if still there at our first pick.

First round up to our picks were as follows;

1. Reid (WC)

2. Walter (GC)

3. McKercher (Nth)

4. Curtin (Nth)

5. Duursma (Haw)

6. Watson (WB)

7. Read (GC)

8. Caddy (Melb)

9. Sanders (GWS)

10. O’Sullivan (Geel)

11. Wilson (Ess)

12. Windsor (Ade)

13. Leake (Melb)

ESPN Phantom just posted today have us taking Curtin and Windsor.

8. Melbourne - Dan Curtin

Claremont/Western Australia DEF, 197cm, 95kg

ESPN draft rank: 6

Curtin is the slider in this phantom draft, but the highly touted defender could go as early as North Melbourne at picks 2 and 3. He's a proactive interceptor with composure and skill in abundance, able to play on a variety of forwards and nullify their influence. Curtin played great football as an inside midfielder as well where his clean hands come to the fore, but he'll settle down back early in his career.

If not Curtin? The Dees will likely pounce on Duursma or Watson if either makes it to this point, while a decision between Sanders and Curtin would be lineball. James Leake and Caleb Windsor are smokies at this point. West Coast could also consider a pitch for this selection if the homegrown product slides, but it would require their coveted future first round selection to entice Melbourne.

13. Melbourne - Caleb Windsor

Eastern Ranges/Vic Metro MID, 185cm, 74kg

ESPN draft rank: 19

The Dees will consider Windsor at pick 8, but they would be ecstatic to see him slide to 13. The wingman boasts elite speed on the edge of packs, able to use his burst to get forward of centre and hit the scoreboard. He holds his width and is damaging with his disposal, and he is likely to be a high metres gained player at AFL level. Windsor's speed and ball use forward of centre suits Melbourne perfectly.

If not Windsor? The Dees are heavily linked to W.A. hard nut Koltyn Tholstrup, and could grab Darcy Wilson if the Crows don't. It's hard to see Windsor making it past them at this point, though

I don't know much about Windsor at all, but I'm increasingly becoming enamoured with us taking Curtin. He's a genuine tall at 197 (matching Petty's height IIRC) and looks to have good overhead marking prowess from the limited highlights that I've seen. He also seems to have a good attacking game and some nuance with the way he moves the ball.

He could become a set-and-forget defender and May's likely replacement, which I think we need to start contingency planning for anyway. In saying that, I'm aware the majority of his highlights are against other teenaged bodies (with the exclusion of the All Stars game against the VFL Carlton side - though I'd say he held his own based on vision).

I'd be open with who we use our second pick on, but I think Curtin would be a fantastic get and a nice target for us, presuming he's available.

I would be happy with O'Sullivan at our 1st pick. He is regarded as a swing player who could play forward as well.

Given Petty may leave for the Crows next year we could nab a mid in next years draft given the crows would have to come up with some good picks.

I would be disappointed if we didn't end up with one of Watson/Curtin/Sanders with "6", wouldn't be surprised if we went with Caddy or O'Sullivan. But, as always I'll happily leave it in JT & TL's hands. Mind you, if Watson is available at our first pick, and we don't take him, I wouldn't be happy. Just think he would be a lot of fun to watch.

Super talent but easily our most stocked position - Kozzy, Spargs, Chandler, AMW and Laurie plays smaller than his height.

All those guys except Kozzy are not best 22 locks though. Could easily fit in the Wizard and if he miraculously slides to us I reckon we’ll take him.

Laurie isn't exactly tall ...and he plays smaller than his height? Not even sure how that would work

Sorry, just realised he is 179CM which is how he plays. For some reason, when he was drafted I thought he was listed at around 184.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
