Would rather get Sanders (will be gone unfortunately) or Caddy over Leake.

I would be so surprised if we over-look Curtin if he falls to us.

Will trust JT though, he doesn't get too many wrong.

I would be flabbergasted!

13. Caleb Windsor

Melbourne

Eastern Ranges, 184cm Midfielder
The mail is that Melbourne is just about set on selecting Windsor with its second selection here. The Eastern Ranges product is another player to have shot up draft boards in the second half of the season, even more so after a strong showing at the national draft combine. The wingman had a big under-18 national championships with Vic Metro and is seen as a player with real weapons with his speed, foot skills and decision making. He is a modern-day wingman who most clubs would love to have.

'Just about set' but wouldn't put it past another club grabbing him before us

Can’t believe the amount of counter hype on curtin. The question I debate with mates is, would you accept a future first from wce for 6 if curtin was there? Can’t see them rising from bottom 4. But I like the kid enough to just take him.

The phantom drafts are dependent on the recruiters giving information to the journalist who the club is interested in, at one stage WB was sold on Watson now its Sanders because Hawthorn saw something in Watson.

If Curtain is there when we have a pick his upside is tremendous plays Forward, Back and Midfield.

Sounds a bit like Leake... but Leake performed better in the champs.

As Lyon interviewed Leake on SEN, I got the feeling he might know something we don’t...

Anyway, I really like the kid. Hope we end up with him one way or another.

Giving we are being linked heavily with Leake and Windsor now when there will be key defenders available at both of our picks Im assuming we must rate Adam’s very highly.

Only if we really don’t rate the available talent at 6 and they’d add in a second and we could combine that with our own future first to get back in to the top 15.

Could we tempt GWS with pick 11, F1,and 42 for pick 7 ? That way if the rumours  are true and we are not going to take Curtain at 6 we still get player we are after and swap future first with WC. We may need to throw in a future second to get it done.
Cats pick at 8 could still see us get the player we are after if it’s not Curtain or Sanders.

I think WC will be in the bottom two again next year.

Yes agree. If Curtin was available at our first pick, JT would surely yell out his number.  He wouldn’t get past the Kangas would he?

I like the creative thinking.

All depends on how GWS rate the prospects as Curtin or Caddy should be available to them at pick 7.

Essentially we'd turning pick 11, 42and future 1st into West Coast future 1st.

In my view, it would be West Coast needing to add something to get it done. They're buying a top end first round pick after all which should come at a premium. And as much as the Eagles are likely to be anchored near the bottom, their home ground advantage could see them pull a few wins and all of a sudden we could be looking at a pick around 4-6 anyway, and that's prior to NGAs and f/s (aschroft etc..) pushing those picks back.

If Eagles are keen on Curtin at 6. It's future 1st and their pick 23 minimum.

We'd almost have more luck just offering 6 and 7 for Reid outright.

Interesting, not sure Collard  is a route we should be going down given our needs/future needs.

Agree. We seem quite keen on Watson though, so maybe if Windsor is unavailable at pick 11 we will have a look at Collard

Lance Collard is in the WCE Academy and they cannot match bids to pick 40. Zero Hanger has him in the range  20 - 35.

AFL Draft Profile: Lance Collard - AFL News - Zero Hanger

Collard is very good but imv Dees are already well stocked in small forwards and under a best available/needs are young mids (Sanders, Leake, Curtin, Windsor) or key defence. (Curtin, O’Sullivan).

Don't know much about James Leake. But he also sounds an exciting prospect.

Here are my possible selections in a Phantom Draft.

Melbourne - Pick #6 in the 2023 AFL National Draft: Ryley Sanders (midfielder)

Melbourne - Pick #11 in the 2023 AFL National Draft: Ollie Murphy (tall defender)

Anyway, we shall wait and see what happens I guess? 🤷🏼‍♂️

We all agree that Reid will go 1. What's the rest supposed to be? Walter 2 (bid), McKersher 3, Duursma 4, Watson 5, Sanders 6, Read 7 (bid), Leake 8, Curtin 9, Caddy 10, O'Sullivan 11, Rogers 12 (bid), Wilson 13, Windsor 14.

Mistake if we don’t take Curtain at 6 assuming he is still there, Leake should still be there 11 so no need to rush and take him early if we also want him. We are set for mids and they are easier to draft or trade for if we want another next year.
