The Gold Coast Suns have reportedly made Elijah Hollands available for trade as long as they are presented with "the right price".

The 21-year-old midfielder has managed only nine senior games in 2023 averaging just shy of 13 possessions a game. Despite playing the first four games of 2023, Hollands was absent from the side up until Round 18 - Steven King's first match as interim coach after Stuart Dew's sacking.

Hollands then played from Rounds 18 through 22 before being omitted again for Rounds 23 and 24.

Speaking on SEN Breakfast, reporter Tom Morris stated that the Suns youngster is available to trade.

“He was Pick 7 in 2020. He's contracted for next year but rival clubs have been told he's available for the right price," said Tom Morris.

Don't underestimate Hake Lever's input..

Would be interested if it were a late mid to late third round pick. A 21-year old who went pick 7 and can’t break into the Suns side should be met with caution.

Pass. Has struggled to break into a poor team and then not really shown anything to excite at AFL level when he played. Much better options out there for midfield and flank depth.

Flanders I would be keen on however.

I haven't watched him play but reality is there are some high draft picks who never really make it and there are some who just take longer to develop and mature and real bargains can possibly be found there.

he's more of a pressure forward than a true midfielder, i would've thought?

you'd think he'd be depth in that role / pushing into midfield for us

I said back in July that I'd be happy to bring Flanders across for a second rounder. In the VFL he was absolutely dominant and had a patch where he was averaging approx 40 disposals. He's clearly going to have an AFL career. He showed a nice accurate 40 metre kick and ability to find a lot of ball inside and outside. Also looks to have decent power for a midfielder not overly big. He's been given more midfield time at AFL level recently and flourished as a result, accumulating a lot more ball. At worst, he'd be good inside or outside midfield depth for us to replace Jordon, Harmes, Dunstan etc. At best, he's another good mid in the rotation and takes Sparrow or the likes place. 

Elijah Hollands... I haven't seen any attributes to get excited about yet. He's struggled at AFL level and not been great at VFL level either. At underage level he could hit the scoreboard, put good defensive pressure on and was a marking threat. He hasn't been able to translate that since being drafted. Maybe it's the bigger bodies, but he just seems uncompetitive and whatever athletic advantage he had when drafted is no longer visible. If you could get him for a 3rd rounder or something to see if he can turn it around, then maybe you'd consider him. The fact he's not getting a game in a bottom team for years on end says a lot about how far behind his colleagues he is, most of whom aren't great and wouldn't get a game for us.

He excelled at underage level as a mid-sized forward target. He's not a tall forward though at approximately 190cm, but was a target similar to Fritsch is and used his athleticism to be a threat. Most similar player I could compare him to is Oliver Henry at the Cats, but remove any competitiveness. Pre-draft he was able to hit the scoreboard and push higher up the ground at stages. Recruiters thought he had good midfield potential but it hasn't eventuated. Not someone to get excited about IMO.

Did it before drafted and slid as a result. Shouldn’t be effecting him now.

If he came for a second rounder given we have a surplus of picks. if we lose harmes and jj on top of dunstan we will require pure midfield depth id be all for it, if it fails nothing lost as he'd be an addition to the current crop rather than the star of the show. i think that's an important differentiation when discussing recruiting from other clubs and expected outputs etc

Interestingly, his younger brother, Ollie Hollands has been a first year revelation as a winger for Carlton. Shorter and much thinner than Elijah but Ollie is a real competitor, may not look it but is tough as nails, not afraid of contests and will run all day.
