The flag race really is right open. I reckon if you're GWS or even Carlton you definitely feel like you can steal a flag ala Bulldogs in 2016.

A Port win would suddenly open it right up again.

Except Port won’t win. It is going to take a major upset to not be a Collingwood Brisbane grand final. I cannot see either of GWS or Port beating Collingwood in the prelim, nor can I see Brisbane losing to Carlton.

I hope brissy win. If we can beat carlton then I think they are a better match up than port.

I’m just offended by the pathetic wording.
Sounds like they went to chat GPT and typed in “write me a banner for the Port vs Brisbane game”

LOL I didn’t even read it! But you’re dead right. It’s hard to read it without yawning.

Speaking of triggering, what the hell is this banner effort from Port?

@WalkingCivilWar you would never sign off on this!

A question I’ve always had, is the banner more for the fans or the players? Do the players even ready the banner?

Preemptive congrats on your huge Pointsbet haul for next week (and the week after).

Nothing against Cameron but I use to like the Country Road song

Surely Gil can arrange for his wet dream Collingwood v Carlton GF.   A few more "favourable goal reviews", a tribunal reprieve for Jack Martin.  Wouldn't trust him / them at all.

Harris Andrews ain’t Steven May. He’s more of an interceptor. He’s been absolutely killed one on one tonight.

It’s for both. We make them for the players and we enjoy making them. I don’t know if every player reads them but I’ve seen many of them looking up at the banner as they run out. The banner is also where the players congregate until every one of them is on the field (my favourite part). They jump up and down and pump each other up and smile or otherwise acknowledge us as we’re screaming encouragement like crazy people. All this while our song is playing. Im sure the players appreciate it. I know our girls appreciate the banners because they’ve told us, many times.

I doubt we'll beat the Blues with Goodwins bomb it in territory gameplan, the Pies had 18 players inside our 50 waiting for the bombs all night and the Blues will do the same,We don't switch on until we are 4 goals down like against the Tigers and Swans, the Blues jumped the Swans in the first 10 minutes like the Pies did to us and the Blues will be on fire in the first quarter and it'll be all over.

I'd rather play Port in Adelaide if we get that far

No one could see GWS beating Collingwood in the 2019 prelim, after Collingwood had knocked off Geelong in the QF and GWS had finished 6th.

We get it Hodgey… the lions practise their goal kicking… how many more times does he need to bring it up

Make an early tactical substitution.

Immediately lose two players to injury, Hinkley masterclass.

I mean you can’t foresee injuries

True, but when it comes to Port I like to rub it in.

Who’s the commentator that keeps on saying “deadly”?

Possibly the same one who described Horne-Francis as a "revelation". Yes, the #1 draft pick, who was never going to be anything other than a star.

Burgoyne ... listening to him is like scraping nails down a blackboard.

Hodge ... [insert your own comment]

Brisvegas will be very hard to stop from here playing at home.

Neither of these teams defend well. Kick straight and we’ll beat either.

Carlton, then Brisbane, then.....GWS......quite the journey to win the flag.

Have you ever received any praise or feedback from the players about the banners?

Brisbane's gut running to support and effort (at home) is at another level.  Reminds me of us in 2021

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.

  • POSTGAME: North Melbourne

The Demons are finally back at the MCG and finally back on the winners list as they continually chipped away at a spirited Kangaroos side eventually breaking their backs and opening the floodgates to run out winners by 6 goals.
